The target was elusive to say the least. They rarely came into the open unless something startled them. Like the current situation which had at least 50 heroes gathered in a circle. At least that's what I could see.
'Stupid binoculars. This is why I should invest more in night vision goggles instead of those stupid throwing stars.' I thought shaking the binoculars and putting them back in my pack. My white costume didn't exactly blend in with the shadows of the building like usual as it was sunset. This only made the costume more obvious to the naked eye.
The target was cute if I could say the least. Blond hair, green eyes, and a costume that outlined his muscular build. I found myself purring. No, cute wasn't the word. Absolutely HOT was a better description.
'NO SNOW LEOPARD!! Focus! This Zola dude is paying you a lot to bring this guy in. Now focus and find someway you can draw him away.' I reprimanded myself, snapping out of my dreamy reverie. The crowd had dispersed away leaving only seven people. I could draw him away, but that would be a waste of time. I'd have to fight the others, and even if I could, I didn't want to come home bloody and scratched up just to have my sister take care of me again. I most definitely didn't want her to know exactly what my job was. That'd be suicide and she'd never trust me again.
I took out those stupid binoculars and focused on the target. He was looking at the group of six people and wearing the look of a lost puppy. He suddenly perked up and looked in my direction.
'Shit, I gotta get out of here!'  I jumped down from my spot on the buildings edge, feeling the wind whip around my body and through my dark hair. At the last second, I got out my whip and swung it so that it wrapped around a lamppost. I flipped in midair, feeling my body turn and twist so that I landed on top of a nearby truck going down the highway.
I relaxed, sat down, and let out the breath I had been holding. That was a close one, the target almost saw me. Even if he did, there was no guarantee that he'd think a person was spying on him. I just have to be more careful next time.
My phone rang and I picked it up, wondering who would be calling this time of night.
