2 hours later...
I silently climbed up to my apartment window, careful not to wake up the chihuahua 5 floors beneath me. If I was heard, Selina and I would never hear the end of it from Nightmare woman. I dragged my claws underneath the window and lifted it open. I pulled it down and crept towards my sisters room.
Lone and behold, there was Selina. She was still panting heavily, but she now sat in a chair drinking a gallon of water. I sat down on the bed across from her and we stared at each other.
"Sorry about ruining your party. I know that you don't usually have a lot of friends to talk to. Partially my fault." Selina said, sadly. I shook my head.
"It's not your fault. I should've waited and thought it through before inviting them while you were doing a job." I said, looking down at the floor. Selina noticed my sadness and got up from her chair, putting her water down on the table. She sat next to me, taking off her mask and throwing against the wall.
"It sucks being a mercenary, no lie. The constant calls from contacts, the terrible things that I often have to do.." She looked at me before continuing. "Not spending anytime with you like a true sister should. It's just so wrong, but I don't have any choice." She said dropping her head in her hands, her voice choking up and tears begin to sting her eyes.
I looked up at her and I gave her a hug which she returned and she broke down. I shared in her pain like a real sister should. She often had these breakdowns and every single time, I swore that I would always be there for her no matter what. We broke apart and she rubbed the tears away from her eyes.
"To be completely honest with you, I hate my job. Especially the person who gave me the job." She said. That peaked my interest, she never talked about her contacts or who gave her the money. I turned, looked at her and asked.
"Who?" She hesitated and reluctantly said a name that sent chills down my spine.
"Arnim Zola. That's my contact. He's hired me to capture Iron fist alive." She looked at the ground in shame, and I looked shocked.
"How could Hydra have already gained so much power so quickly after..." I stopped talking before quietly continuing. "After you sacrificed yourself to destroy them a year ago?"
