Chapter 48

Jace's POV
I turn around and I'm face to face with Lina. I brush a piece of her hair behind her ear as she groans. Lina takes my hand and says 'why did I get pregnant again? 😭 I'm going through the pain again...' I kiss her forehead and say 'because we want our family to be full of little Normans that look like you.'~ I poke her nose. Lina smiles and says 'promise me you won't leave me again.'~ I take her hand and peck it. I hear the door open and feet running to the bed~ the twins. They climb up and sit between us. I mess up Nicky's hair and say 'mommy had a surprise for you and Jackie.' Nicky smiles and says 'wat?' Lina brings the twins closer and say 'you're gonna have a new baby sister or brother.'~ their eyes widen so big. Jackie jumps on the bed and says 'SISTA! BROTHA!' I pick up the twins and bring them downstairs. Lina comes down and says 'Blake keeps calling/texting me. It's getting on my nerves.' I kiss Lina's forehead and whisper 'ignore it baby. He doesn't deserve your attention.'
Lina's POV
I scroll through my emails; and see one that catches my eye. My old divorce papers. I read them over and flashback to months ago; how I stormed out in such a bitchy way. I look up and see Jace holding out a mug~ I take it. He looks onto my screen and says 'you still have the file?'~ I nod and whisper 'I didn't delete them.' Jace moves away and says 'so right now we're not a 'thing'? I try so hard to be accepted again and you secretly have divorce papers.' I shake my hands and say 'no babe, we are. I didn't want to delete them unless something went bad.' Jace rolls his eyes and says 'if something went wrong.'~ he gets up. I hear the car keys jingle and the car drive away. I close my laptop and mumble to myself. I hear something smash upstairs~ I instantly think 'the twins.' I run upstairs to their room and I see their balcony door handle broken and the curtains flowing outside. I rush to the door tripping over toys and chairs. I lean over the balcony and see no sign of the twins. I start to panic~ I go back into the room and call their names. I cover my face with my hands and think 'why am I such a terrible mom. I'm not cut out for this. A 25 year old.' I pull out my phone and call Noah.
               Noah picks up and says 'hey ballerina. What's up?' I begin to cry and I say 'the twins are missing.' I hear brakes stop and Noah says 'are you serious? They're literally 2!' I sniff and say 'I know. 😭 Jace walked out again and I was distracted.' Noah clears his throat and says 'stay calm, I'll be there in like 10 minutes.'~ we hang up. I search every inch of the room in the mean time and still no sign of the twins. I head downstairs and I hear the doorbell.~ Noah. I open the door and I see Noah with some chocolate. I shake my head and say 'Noah... you didn't have to.' Noah hands them to me and says 'just to cheer you up a bit.' I start eating them and Noah says 'why did Jace leave?' 'Because I still had our divorce papers.'~ Noah laughs and says 'he can be a loser sometimes, he takes things too seriously.' I laugh and say 'tell me about it.'😂 Noah takes my hands and says 'when did the twins disappear?' I look down and say '20 minutes ago. I looked everywhere in their room. The balcony door was broke into.'
Jace's POV
          I come back home to see Noah's car in the driveway. I walk into the kitchen and see Lina and Noah talking. Lina looks up and says 'Jace.. I need to tell you something.' I look into her eyes and whisper 'if it's about a divorce then no. If it's about the twins then yes.' Lina pulls me into my office and says 'the twins are missing.' My eyes widen and I yell 'ARE YOU JOKING RIGHT NOW? I LEAVE FOR 20 MINUTES AND YOU CAN'T KEEP AM EYE ON OUR KIDS?!'~ I slap her. Lina falls and weeps. I walk out and say 'if this is how you treat your kids then there's no point of keeping the one you're carrying.' I walk out and call the cops. The cops soon arrive and I say 'hello officers, my kids Jacqueline and Nicky Norman have been missing for about an hour.' The officers nod and say 'what do they look like?' I pull out a picture from my wallet and hand it to them. The officers thank me and leave. I sit on the couch and cover my face. The couch goes down and I say 'Noah just leave. I don't need a pep talk right now.' Noah laughs and says 'Jace, listen it's not Lina's fault that your kids are gone. It's because you left and made her feel useless. She told me that you thought you were getting another divorce.' I look up to him and say 'I know, it's just that.. Lina was the one for me in high school and when we got married and had the twins I felt like the luckiest guy on the earth. But now I don't.'
