MUMBLING BITES
———
Lunch time starts ans the blonde girl named Elli and I went to the rooftop to eat. It's the perfect place to relax with the perfect sunlight and the perfect breeze. And add to that, Elli's very nice!
"
Are you enjoying your first day Andy?" She asks as she munch on her sandwich.
"So far, I am." I smiled.
I still am not happy with how Jun treated me in class. He could at least be friendly to a newcomer.
"How about you and your seatmate, are you two getting along well?" Look at that. Elli asks the question I don't even want to answer.
"Actually.... What's the deal with him? He's giving me the creeps with the silent treatment!"
"You don't like him, do you?" Elli giggled. Should I assume she doesn't like him, too? I wonder about that.
'What should I answer? Do I dislike him? I'm actually unsure', I thought to myself before answering.
"Well, a little? I just... want a friend to talk to during class"
"Yeah, I get that, too! I don't know why but ever since Jun transferred, everybody acts weird."
"W-what do you mean?" I was really shocked hearing something like that.
Elli took a deep breath. My heart started beating wildly again like horses in a race. Why? Is it something really serious? I mean, I don't see how the class acts weird—or maybe I just don't know who they were before and even right now.
'So, what's the reason of everything?!' I was being impatient in my head but held it until Elli finishes up the story.
Elli took another deep breath and looked at me.
"He transferred last March. The girls were all into him because of his features and he seemed to be really cool. He introduced himself as Jun Blackard and a descendant of a vampire clan. Everybody laughed at him then..." She paused, maybe because of my very shocked impression.
'I mean, if you'd hear someone blab about being linked to vampires, I would laugh, too,' I thought.
"...then suddenly, all of us felt something pushing us down. We weren't able to breathe properly. When I looked at him, his eyes turned glowing red. But I don't know if the others saw those... deadly-like eyes. It was terrifying to be honest. The next day, I asked them if they had any idea what happened that day but they said nothing. Like they'd been brain-washed," she stated.
"Is it... I..." I mumbled. I didn't know how to respond after hearing that kind of thing. At this age and time, do vampires still exist in the first place?
"Don't let it get it to your head. I don't know if it was actually true anyway. I just told you what I have noticed." I simply nodded knowing that I wouldn't be able to forget what she just told me.
Lunch break soon ended. Elli went ahead of me because I wanted to compose myself first and decided to head to the school rooftop.
I breathe in... And out... Maybe it took me more than five minutes? Who knows!
Tch!
I heard a snap just behind the door of the rooftop.
Holding the door knob, a heavy gush of wind pushed me away bringing me to my feet. When it ended, I slowly stood up...
I opened the door... Scared but determined to know what's behind. You know the feeling like in horror movies where you're not supposed to open the door because the killer is just right behind it but you do anyway?
That's how I'm feeling right now. But rather than a man with a knife, a chainsaw or a machete... It's different.
I saw Jun sitting in the corner, his head on his arm. Wait! It's his mouth on his arm! I immediately approached him as my mental bells kept ringing.
"Stop that!" I demanded to him.
"You!" He twitched away.
Is he a one-word person? Never mind! His eyes were.... Glowing red like what Elli told me! Is he for real?
He stepped towards my position. I stepped backwards. I am afraid of him honestly speaking. Red fluid drips from his arm. It's definitely BLOOD. Even a five-year-old would be able to name what that is flowing on him.
"Are you really a v-vampire?" I asked courageously.
He stopped emotionless.
"Are you scared?" What a pretty voice!
Though it's emotionless, the depth of his voice lingered to my spine. His voice was like those types in the radio that soothes your ears and you can't stop listening to them.
"I'm not" I lied.
I was really shaking with fear. I turned to him. He sat down facing down leaning his back against the wall.
"Just leave me alone." It creeped me out but I had no option. His voice could possibly turn me into an ice. I did what he told me. I didn't turn around as I grip my hands. And there was no more response from him.
That day, I didn't know... Many things was bound to happen not only to me but everyone surrounding me.
