Seven Tales

Chastity's tale

Chastity is the second oldest of the sisters. She is always very calm, maybe even a bit shy. But she knows very well what she wants and what she stands for. She is the smartest of the sisters, and loves to learn new things. She always wants to know how things work, and that's why she is the one who spends  most of her time wondering why she, her sisters, and the Sins are the way they are. She desperately wants to understand why they were chosen to do this.

People who see her often describe her as a goddess. She has long, silky black hair, which almost reaches her lower back. She has dark, mono-lid eyes, and looks what humans would call "Asian". Up here, we never really saw a reason to divide humans in such categories, but I suppose humans just like to create boxes. She is on the shorter side, around 5'4, but not in a way where it is the first thing people notice about her. She always smells nice as she really likes having her personal hygiene in check, and likes using different scented soaps every time she showers. She is also one to be very honest. She appreciates honesty very much, and wants other people to be honest with themselves and others as well. In her opinion honesty is a good way to prevent conflicts from getting worse, and in some cases even prevent them all together.

Unlike her sisters, she isn't interested in love very much, or at least not in sexual relationships. But of course that has to do with her name. Before she became who she is, she had a relationship with Lust. They never actually had sex, as they both wanted to wait until the time was right. But they never got that time. And now Lust was Lust, and Chastity was Chastity. And they would never work together. Sometimes it saddens her, and it makes her miss the old times. But she knows she has a job to fulfil here.

In the beginning she found it difficult to find a starting point for her job. For instance, people had sex all the time, and it was a natural thing. She knew it wasn't her job to stop people from having sex. But she knew she had to do something. So she focused mainly on the other things she stood for; wisdom and honesty. Which meant she became a conflict solver.

She turns to those who have a temper and tries to make them think before they act, and have them be honest with themselves and others. She often works together with Patience, as she also often works with conflicts. Together they try and calm people down, let them think about what they are doing and saying, and let them talk things out with each other. Because of this, the two sisters have gotten quite close to each other. And they both enjoy not having to work alone.

Chastity likes seeing how conflicts were solved, and she always hopes that people learn from it. But she noticed that after a while people would show some of their old behaviour again. She isn't exactly sure why, but she figures that it is very likely that the Sins have to do with it. Not that she gets angry at them, though. She understands very well that there needs to be some kind of balance in the world, and that the Sins exist for a reason. But it would be a lie if she said it doesn't irritate her from time to time.

Just like her sister Humility, she has a guilty pleasure as well. She loves being admired. And the last person she would tell that to was Humility. She loves it when people find her cute, or give her compliments. Sometimes she will even fish for them. She also likes making people get a crush on her, even if she isn't remotely interested in being in a relationship. Not that she ever could be in a relationship with a human. Or at least, she figures she couldn't. She isn't sure. But she just loves the attention she can get just with her looks. She knows very well where to draw a line though, as sexual comments make her very uncomfortable. If that happens she is quick to bail out on people, not wanting to deal with them. But as long as the compliments are things she likes, she will stick around and hope she will get more.

Does this make her a bad person? No. Although some could argue that making people get a crush on you is a bit unfair. But she is wise enough to know she isn't perfect. She finds herself worthy of love, without being arrogant. And that is a good trait to have.
