Gluttony's tale

Gluttony is the third oldest of the brothers, so kind of in the middle as well just like Temperance. He doesn't really care about if he is respected or not, all he wants is to have the most of everything. Especially food. The truth is, he doesn't even need food to stay alive. Nor water. Nor sleep. None of the Sins or Virtues need any of that. But Gluttony wants food all the time.

Gluttony doesn't like his brothers very much, and especially not Greed. They both want the most of everything, except Greed is even worse. Whilst Gluttony mostly focuses on food, Greed really focuses on everything, including food. And that is something Gluttony definitely does not appreciate. So he and Greed are always fighting, to the delight of Wrath and Envy. The latter is one Gluttony also doesn't get along with at all. Because Envy is also greedy, but he doesn't act on it so much. With Lust he has no problems, as he is greedy on a different aspect. The reason why these four Sins are all greedy? Probably because they were very close before they became the actual Sins. But now all of that has disappeared. Despite that, they Sins would still die for one another.

Gluttony doesn't like to spend too much time on his appearance, though he isn't like Sloth either. Gluttony has dark brown eyes and strangely enough, blonde hair. Which is a combination you don't see that often. Despite him eating all the time, he isn't overweight. Just a little chubby, but not in an unhealthy way either. He is relatively short for a male, around 5'8. Secretly he would've liked to be a bit taller.

When he was first put on Earth he had no clue what to do. He had all these strange feelings, and in the beginning he kept them to himself. While his brothers were all over the place to influence people, he was just spending his day trying new foods and as many as possible. He didn't feel like he would have to influence people. But eventually he did. He wasn't sure what happened to him, but along for his desire for food he felt a strong need to share his experiences with others. He wanted people to know how good food could taste. He created gluttony everywhere he went. It caused some conflicts, as people started to become selfish and wanted all the food for themselves. For him it was fun to go to a restaurant and cause so much chaos that people would steal from other guests' plates. It was a fun way to spend his time on Earth, he thought.

Eventually, though, he noticed that the world was unbalanced when it came to food. Some people had too much to eat, which he liked, but some people had too little to eat, and that was something he really disliked. So he started thinking of ways to get food to those people. Usually they were homeless people, but whenever he was in Africa things were a mess. He felt like he had to do something, as he could not stand watching people getting starved to death. So with a little help of his persuasion powers, which all the Sins and Virtues had, he managed to arrange food wherever he went. He would go by restaurants and sometimes people's houses to ask for food, and he would share that with those who were starving.

Only in those moments he is able to push his greedy feelings aside, and that is something that feels conflicting for him. Because when he gathers the food he wants nothing more but to keep it for himself, but at the same time he also wants other people to eat like he does. And the latter feeling seems to be stronger. He enjoys watching people enjoy food, and he secretly likes helping people out.

So maybe Gluttony isn't such a bad person after all. Despite him causing chaos in places with food, he actually helps those that need food desperately. He isn't sure if that is something he is meant to do or not, but he tries not to think about what he is meant to do too much. Instead he tries focusing on what he wants to do. And that is to share his love for food.
