Matchbox 20 drifted softly into my ears as I slowly awoke. I blinked a few times, allowing my eyes to get adjusted to the light.
"Hmmmm....." I slighted softly, stretching my arms above my head and wiggling my toes before sighing in contentment.
"Darling? Are you awake?"
I screamed and jumped five feet in the air. I kid you not, I nearly had a heart attack. I landed with a thud onto the floor and looked up.
Tom Hiddleston.
My kidnapper.
A scream left my lips again as I quickly scurried to my feet.
"Darling! Darling! It's alright!" Tom said as he walked closer to me and held out his hands, not wanting to touch me, but wanting to comfort me nonetheless.
"No it's not!" I screamed and began to look for a way out. I scanned the area quickly and located the door. Tom saw the direction I was looking at and hurried over to stand in front of it.
He held his hands out on either side of him, completely blocking my exit. "Darling, I promise you. Everything is alright."
I shook my head frantically and I felt the weird, tingling sensation running across my nose; I was about to let lose on the waterworks.
"I'm not saying for you to calm down," he said as he slowly lowered his arms. "But, I'm saying that I need you to listen to me. Just a few minutes."
I remind completely still. I didn't know what to do. Was he just trying to be nice and then kill me?
"I'm not going to kill you." He said softly; it was as if he read my mind. "I'm so unbelievably sorry for giving you such a fright, darling." He sighed and shook his head, looking back on the memory. "You see, I'm Tom Hiddleston," he spoke as he looked up at me.
"I-I know." I whispered as I wrapped my arms around myself.
He nodded. "Then you know that I am an actor."
I nodded. "Y-Yeah."
Tom took a few steps toward me and I immediately took just as many back. "I was acting back there," he said as he paused in his steps. "I'm playing the lead role of Adam Montgomery. He is, how do I say this," he mumbled off thinking, "He's in love. With this beautiful woman, you see. But he doesn't know how to express it...." Tom trailed off again and rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm sorry, darling. It's a little hard to explain."
I nodded and hugged myself tightly, looking away. The way he spoke of his character made me think of my book. "Mine."
"My b-book!" I said softly. "I lost it. I-I need to find it."
"I have it right here, my dear." Tom said as he reached behind him pulled it out. He looked down at it and frowned, "I'm terribly sorry. I ruined the front page."
He handed it out to me, but wouldn't move closer so I that I could grab it. He wanted me to come get it.
Trust.
"I won't bite." He whispered as he gestured towards the book.
I looked up into his eyes and I knew that he wasn't lying. Slowly, I moved to close the distance and I reached my hand out to grab it. "It's right." I spoke, trying to get my voice to steady out and rise to my normal volume. It most definitely wasn't alright. That was my best friends book. The only thing that I had left of hers, now ruined.
"From the frown on your face, it clearly isn't." Tom said softly as he looked down at me. I quickly wiped the frown off and tried to make my face show no emotion. "Please, darl-"
"Kat." I said, interrupting him. "My name is Kat."
Tom nodded and held out his hand. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Ms. Kat." I took his hand and shook it, "Just Kat, please, Mr. Hiddleston."
"Just Tom, please, then for me, Kat." He said with a small smile, no doubt he was relieved that I believed him and wasn't trying to run anymore. "And I insist that I buy you another copy of that book. What's the title of it?"
I sighed softly, by the look in his eyes, I knew that I couldn't say no. "Mine." I said softly. "It's called Mi-"
"Was it written by K.C. Walker?" He asked quickly, causing me to raise an eyebrow. "Yes, actually. He's a great writer."
Tom gave a small laugh and nodded. "That he is. It's a very good book too. What was the main character again?" He said, scrunching his eyebrows in thought.
"Adam Montg-" I paused and then gasped in recognition. "You."
His laugh filled the trailer wonderfully. "Indeed, darling." He placed a hand on his stomach as he slowly calmed down, a few more laughs leaving his lips. "Joss, the producer, approached me with the role a few months ago. I had to accept it, Walker, like you said, is an amazing writer. Mine is one of my favorite books."
"Same here." I said as I looked down at my copy, caressing a few of the pages.
"Wait right here." Tom said as he held up his hands and rusted passed me. With that free time, I quickly dug into my pocket and turned off my music. It was beginning to grow annoying. A few moments passed and he was by my side again. "Take this." He said as he passed a hard copy of a book to me.
I looked down at in in my hands and then looked up at him. "Tom, I can't take this. Mine only came out with a few hard copies."
"Only fifteen." He agreed with a nod. "But, I want you to have it. It's the lease I could do."
I shook my head and pressed the book into his hands. "I can't. Please, my copy is fine."
He shook his head. "I insist."
"Please, Tom. My copy is-"
"Mortal take this book right this instant." Tom said firmly, in his Loki voice. "I shan't repeat myself."
I sighed and nodded. "Fine." I said as I placed it on top of my copy.
"Thank you."
I smiled and looked down at the book. "Will you-"
Tom's phone rung loudly, interrupting me. "Sorry." He said softly as he looked down at his phone. "It's Joss." He quickly answered it and began speaking. Once he was done, he placed his phone on the bar and sighed. "He wants me to talk to Scarlett. Break some bad news to her."
"What news?" I asked curiously.
"He no longer wants her to play the lead female role, Kathrine. He's found someone else. Someone better." He stated as he stuck his hands in his pockets and looked at me.
Better than the Black Widow? Who on earth is better than her?
"Who? Who does he want to take her place." I asked, my head slightly tilting to the side.
With a softly smile, Tom softly stated, "You."
