I stare at the coffee shop window, watching as the rain drops slowly roll down the window. They roll down the window leaving their original spot where they landed and then another one will land in the spot it just left and replace it. I slowly move my eyes a bit higher up and see red rimmed, tear filled brown eyes stare back at me, the red stands out against the pale complexion and the brown wavy, rain soaked hair limply hang around the face. My face. The face that was smiling only a few hours ago when I was hanging out with my friends.
You know them times when you think your day is going too well and you just know something bad is going to happen or it should happen because you can never have one perfect day. Well for me today was that day.
A few hours ago I was at the park hanging out with my friends enjoying one of the only sunny and warm day of the summer break we'll probably get. But I mean that's what happens when you live in Wales, it's either raining, freezing or really windy, sometimes it's all of them. However if it's a nice day and/or week, it can be one of the prettiest places you can go.
When I got home my mum and brother where sitting on the couch hugging each other, I knew something was wrong because my mother had a tear stained face and looked so broken. My brother also looked like he wanted to burst into tears. I have never seen my mum look so broken and sad before, she's usually a very strong and happy person.
"Mum...what's wrong?" I questioned, but I don't think I wanted to know the answer.
"Your....yo-" she couldn't continue before bursting into tears. Her once sweet and happy voice was raw and coming out in croaks.
My brother wrapped his arms around he ever tighter trying to comfort our mum from something bad, that I had yet to find out about what.
"Rob.." I asked unsure if I wanted the answer "what's happened?" I could feel myself get even more nervous by the second.
"Eira...dad he's...he's..." slowly tears started to steam from my brothers eyes not letting him finish.
"He's what? What's happened to dad, Rob?" I asked, I could feel my eyes start to sting with the tears building up behind them.
"He's dead, Eira!" He said his voice racked with sobs "he's gone" he whispered.
Suddenly my world came crashing down, my dad was my rock. He was the one person who would always listen when nobody else would! I was my dad's girl, I was his little princess. I mean don't get me wrong I love my mum but I was closer to my dad, I always had been. It's funny how the world works and it takes away the people you love at unexpected times.
"What happened?" I asked, I needed to know what happened or I knew I would go insane!
"Car crash, a driver went straight into the side of the car and apparently it killed him instantly." Rob told me.
After Rob told me I ran. I ran out the door away from them, I could faintly hear them calling after me but paid no attention. I needed to clear my head and be on my own for a bit.
That's how I ended up here. In this small coffee shop, drenched from head to toe but not caring. As soon as I left the house it started to rain but I didn't care, my dad was gone and never coming back.
