Chapter 5

The next day I woke up to light shining through the gap curtains. I groaned and turned over not wanting to get up, after about 10 minutes I dragged myself to the bathroom and had a shower, I realised that I'm somehow going to have to tell my friends. How do you tell your friends that you're moving to a different school and won't see them for ages? My best friend Ellie will be distraught! We have been friends since I first moved here, my family moved when I was only little so we've been best friends basically all our lives!

After a few more minutes I go out and put on a pair of black ripped skinny jeans, a white cropped hoodie and my vans. I then blow dried and straightened my hair and put on some makeup. I won't lie, I do wear quite a bit of makeup but that's because I want to and I can.

Once I was finished I went down stairs and had a piece of toast and then grabbed my phone and some money and left the house.

I walked to Ellie's. I lived in a small village so getting to anyone's is never a problem, you can walk most places and still get there fast. That's one of the upsides of living in a small village.

Once I got to her house, I knocked on the door. A few seconds later it opened

"Hey, Eira. What's up?" She asked closing the door behind us.

"Nothing much, you?"

"Nah just got up." She replied "whatcha doing her so early?"

"You do realise it's 11 o'clock, right?" I replied with a laugh

"Yeah exactly to early! It's so early!"  She replied sarcastically throwing her hand up in the air.

We both burst into laughter as we walked up the stairs. Once we got to Ellie's room, she went and dived back into the covers of her bed. I just rolled my eyes and sat on her desk chair and started to spin around in circles.

"So are you here for something? Or do you just wanna hang out for the day?" Ellie asked

"Umm...well you see..." I started but could already feel tears building up in my eyes.

"Eira what's wrong?" She asked and sounded concerned

"I'm going to boarding school" I stated, trying not to cry because I knew my makeup would be ruined.

"WHAT?!" She practically screamed

"I'm goin-"

"I heard you trust me! But I don't get why?"

"Mum thinks it's best that I get away from here because of if the memories wi..." I felt my throat close up "...with dad." I managed to croak out before the tears came.

"Oh Eira!" Ellie got up and pulled me into a hug.

After that we sat on Ellie's bed and watched a movie, while Ellie asked me questions about the school, where it was and when I was going.

"In a week or two." I told her.

I saw her face fall at them words but she didn't say anything.

I spent most of the day at Ellie's but when it reached 6 o'clock I finally decided to go home. We said our goodbyes and then I walked home.

"Hey, sweetie!" Mum cane and pulled me into a hug, "how was your day?"

"It was fine....yours?" I gave her an odd glance, I mean she never normally asks so please stop judging!

"It was great!" She said excitedly "you'll never guess what!"

"I don't know what?" I started to get confused.

"You've got to guess, silly!" She said rolling her eyes at me.

"Um..." I said pretending to think, "oh I know! Pigs started to fly!" I said sarcastically.

I have never seen my mum act this way and started to get concerned about her. I thought that I was going to have to call Rob to come and calm her down.

"No, that's just stupid!" She rolled her eyes again. "Do you want me to tell you?"

"Sure" I said in a bored tone.

"Well I was on the phone with the school and they said that your room will be ready in only a day! Isn't that great?" I didn't reply.

"Well," she carried on when she knew I wasn't going to say anything "they said that we can go there in 2 or 3 days!" She said excitedly.

"What! We've still got 2 weeks of summer left and I wasn't meant to leave for a week!" I told her trying to stay calm but failing.

"I know, sweetie but you'll be able to get settled and make some friends before you even have to think about school."

"Why?" I asked "do you want to get rid of me?"

"What! Of course not! I just want what's best and you to have some friends before you start school."

"Fine, I'll go pack" I said and with that I walked upstairs and to my room and started to pack.
