"If you always knew the truth,

then the world would spin around you.

Are you dizzy yet?"

-Dizzy // Jimmy Eat World

calum didn't know how he got there. he never liked roller-coasters, he never liked candy floss, and he certainly never liked fairs. but he always liked luke. he especially liked the the excited look on luke's face when he asked if they could go to the fair together while it was in town, so he gladly accepted. clearly, calum hadn't really thought it through, because there he was, in line for a ride that went up and down and upside down and, as he stared up at it with wide eyes, he felt sick to his stomach.

"hey. you okay, calum?" luke sweetly spoke, breaking calum out of his trance. he felt his boyfriend's warm fingers lace with his as he gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.

"yeah, of course. i just get sick easily, so..." calum smiled at the blonde and gave him a quick kiss to tell him not to worry. then the line moved up a little more, there were only a few people in front of them. he gulped nervously before turning his attention back to luke.

"do you want to do something else? we could play games, or get food. whatever you want!" luke seemed to suddenly realize that calum may not love the thrill of a roller-coaster type ride as much as he did. calum considered himself lucky to have someone who would get out of a line for something he waited nearly half an hour for, just for him.

"don't be silly, luke. i'll be fine. more than fine even, i'll have fun! i'll get terrified and disoriented, but it will be fun 'cause you're here." he nervously rambled. calum had a habit of talking and just continuing to talk when he got nervous and luke thought it was really funny and just made him love the wide eyed boy even more.

"if you insist." he smirked and they were finally let on the ride, sitting there next to each other and doing up the safety belts. calum would have laughed at how awkward luke's long noodle legs looked if he hadn't been so nervous about what was to come. luke noticed when the shorter boy let out a shaky sigh, so he grabbed his arm and laughed to lighten up the mood.

calum seemed nervous a lot of the time, even in every day tasks, but luke could tell that this was probably more serious, so as the ride started, he pressed a small kiss to the side of the anxious boy's jaw. he blushed at the look calum gave him in return.

and then the ride started.

to say it was probably a mistake would be an understatement.

luke really enjoyed it and calum did a good job of hiding how uncomfortable he was. he really loved the way luke shouted and laughed. he looked so cute.

it was almost over and the tall boy squeezed calum's thigh, causing him to look over at him. then luke spoke, sticking his tongue out. "are you dizzy yet?"

calum just nodded in response as the car finally came to a stop and he stood up with shaky legs as fast as he could. got off soon after, but his giggly smile fell as he looked at his boy, paled and tired. he looked really sick.

"Luke, i'm really- i'm really gonna throw up." calum blinked, trying to catch his breath and stop the world from continuing to spin around him.

"okay. um, let's go to the bathroom. alright, honey?" luke spoke, starting to feel really bad. he shouldn't have let calum go on the stupid rollercoaster. it was obvious that he didn't want to, but luke pressured him into it.

as they walked to the toilets, which luckily wasn't too far, luke spoke reassuring words to calum. maybe they weren't that reassuring, but it was the best he could do in the moment.

"i'm sorry, babe, but could you just please shut the hell up?" calum tried really hard not to sound rude, but luke understood and just laughed as they approached the door to the loo.

"good call." luke breathed out with a smile, holding the door open for the sick boy next to him.

and that was how they ended up sitting on the floor of a bathroom stall together. calum with his head in the toilet and luke behind his, running his hands through the soft dark hair. when he finished puking, they continued to just sit in silence for a few minutes. the stall door was open, so people would stick their heads in with questioning looks, but neither of the boys payed much mind to it.

"i'm sorry." luke finally spoke up. he really did feel bad and he didn't know how to make it up to his boyfriend.

"it's not your fault, lukey..." calum gave him a small smile, that turned into a genuine smile within a few seconds of looking at luke's hopeful blue eyes. it was insane that even on the firty floor of a fair bathroom, luke looked absolutely angelic. "i love you."

luke didn't think he would ever get used to hearing those words being uttered from calum's beautiful mouth.

"yeah. i love you too, calum."

and, sure, calum just threw up and it was pretty gross, but luke found it really hard to care about that cause all he wanted was to kiss his boyfriend. he laughed quietly as he leaned in and gently pressed his lips to calum's. it was long and tasted pretty bad, but luke didn't see it as a problem.

"this is fucking gross." calum mumbled against luke's lips and broke it up because they were both laughing and smiling too big to continue. so they pulled apart, foreheads together, looking into each other's eyes with stupid grins on their faces. they held the position for quite some time. people kept coming in to the bathroom and leaving, giving them strange looks along the way. every thing was moving and time was passed, but they were too caught up to care

"are you dizzy yet?" calum whispered, so no one could hear him but luke. the boy nodded with wide eyes.

"alright, let's get the fuck out of here... lunch?"
