Jimi and I sat with Emma on the couch while she calmed down. Elijah was down for his nap upstairs and will probably be up soon. I wish Emma would have told us that she was going to the wedding with Josh. We wouldn't have been upset about it. Now I just feel bad because we weren't there to help her when Sara's mom was yelling at her. I can only imagine what she must have been feeling and I wish I could have been there for her.

After a few minutes, she calmed down. Jimi had his arms wrapped around her and she had her face buried in his chest. She sat up and Jimi kissed the top of her head.

"Are you okay?" I asked softly and she nodded and wiped the tears off her cheek. I brushed the hair out of her face and tucked it behind her ear.

"I think I'm going to go upstairs and change and lay down, I'm kind of tired" she said quietly.

"Okay, come and get us if you need anything" I said and she nodded and went upstairs.

Jimi and I watched her walk up the stairs. When I was sure she was in her room I started talking to Jimi about what happened.

"What do you think we should do?" he asked.

"I don't know. I just cannot believe she told Emma that she was a mistake and that no one wanted her" I said getting a little upset.

"I know. I just hope that she doesn't believe what they said" Jimi said.

"I really want to talk to Sara about what happened because I think this is going to affect Emma's relationship with her especially if she has a close relationship with her parents" I said.

"I didn't even think of that" he said.

Jimi and I sat there for a few minutes. I scooted closer to him on the couch and he wrapped his arm around me. I had my phone sitting on the coffee table and I saw it light up. I picked it up and it Sara calling.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey Karen, I was wonder how Emma was doing. She was really upset when she left and I wanted to know if she was okay" Sara said.

"To tell you the truth, she's devastated. Your mom hurt her" I said.

"I know she did. She had no business even talking to her. I'm so sorry that she had to deal with that" Sara said.

"This is exactly what I was afraid of happening" I said.

"I know it was and I don't blame you for being upset with me. I should have kept better tabs on my mom to make sure she wasn't going to talk to Emma. My mom can be horrible. I just recently started talking to her again" Sara said.

"Oh, I didn't know that" I said.

"It's okay. I was wondering if Emma was up to it, we could do something next week?" she asked.

"I'll have to talk to her about it. She's sleeping right now" I said.

"Okay. Just send me a text when you talk to her" she said.

"I will. Congratulations on your wedding" I said.

"Thank you" she said.

"Don't worry about Emma tonight. She's going to be okay. Just enjoy your wedding" I said sincerely.

"Thank you" she said and we hung up with each other.

"What did she want?" Jimi asked.

"She wanted to know how Emma was" I said and he nodded.

"She also said that she just recently started talking to her mother again" I said.

"Oh" he said.
