I'm Not Okay [EXO's BaekHyun fanfic]

Chapter 5

3 months later

BaekHyun was working at the hospital. He is now permanently working at the emergency ward. To him, he feels lucky that his hours are different to EunJin. He works from 8PM to 8AM while EunJin works from 8AM to 8PM. The two of them barely see each other. After their honeymoon trip, they have been working busily. This is because there is a shortage of staff at the hospital. At 2AM that day, BaekHyun finally went to the kitchen. He pulled his phone out and tried to call you. This has been his routine for the last 3 months. He knows you've been ignoring him but he wants to have hope of hearing from you. He sent you a text message, pleading you to pick up because he misses you too much. As he sent you a text, a nurse called him.

"Dr Byun! Hurry!" yelled the nurse, "there was a terrible accident! Hurry!!"

BaekHyun put his phone in his phone back in his pocket. Then he rushed over to the emergency ward with the nurse. When he arrived at the emergency ward, he slowed down.

"what happened?" he asked the nurse.

"A car accident happened around 30 minutes ago," explained the nurse, "a total of 7 people were injured. There was a family of 5 in one car and a couple in the other car. The couples have arrived."

"who's treating the family?" asked BaekHyun

"Your father in law is," replied the nurse.

BaekHyun nodded and opened the curtains. He was surprised to see who was sitting on the bed.

"JongDae?" questioned BaekHyun

"BaekHyun! Hurry! Don't worry about me!" shouted JongDae

"JongDae! Calm down!" said BaekHyun

"go next door. She's more critical than me. I'm fine. I just need to treat the wounds on me," said JongDae, "I can wait...really. She needs you more. trust me."

"who is she?" asked BaekHyun.

He walked closer to JongDae. He checked JongDae's wounds quickly. They don't seem infected.

"someone close to us," replied JongDae.

What is he on about. Wondered BaekHyun. BaekHyun did another quick scan.

"Nurse Park. Treat the wounds. He doesn't seem to have anything broken. Get an x-ray scan on his body to make sure. I'll come and look after him later. I'll have a look at the other patient," said BaekHyun.

BaekHyun left the room while shutting the curtains. Then he walked to the room next door and flipped the curtains. He was shocked when he saw who it was. It was you lying down on the bed. The nurse was puffing gas in you.

"Dr Byun! You can't save her!" yelled the nurse, "You're her family member. You can't save her. It's against the rules! We have to wait for Dr Park to finish the surgery before checking on her."

"I don't care!" yelled BaekHyun, "saving someone's life is more important than following the stupid rules. How is she?"

The nurse doesn't say anything. BaekHyun grabbed the reports. He could see that you're bleeding heavily. You could die anytime soon.

"push her to the operating room! I'm going to operate her!" said BaekHyun

"but Dr Byun!" said the nurse

"I don't care!" yelled BaekHyun, "if anyone finds out, I'll be the one that will get into trouble. Everyone else can be safe. I will take up everything."

The nurse sighed. A couple of them get ready to push you to the operating room. He check the scans in which the nurse has performed. Your brain was swelling. He knows he must treat that section first. He also know your chest was fractured and there was bones piecing through your lungs. He tried to calm himself down. He knows that he feels extremely anxious. However, in order to save you, he must calm down. He walked to JongDae's room first. The nurse is still treating him.

"how's (y/n)?" asked JongDae

"i'm going to operate her. I don't care about the rules," replied BaekHyun, "don't tell anyone else you've seen (y/n). I'm going to tell the nurses that as well. Is her family contacted?"

"there's no family member in her documents," replied the nurse, "also her name in the documents is Lee GaHye. I told the nurses to stop making rumours that she's related to EunJin and they're not related."

"Thank You. I'm going to get ready now," said BaekHyun, "I'll look for you later JongDae,"

BaekHyun rushed out before JongDae could say anything. He walked to the operating theatre. He dressed in his surgeon clothes. As the nurses prepared the operation theatre, BaekHyun walked up to you. He held on your hand.

"My heart breaks seeing you like this," whispered BaekHyun, "but I must be strong in order to save you. Wait for me. Keep fighting for your life. After you wake up, we will leave this place together."

He kissed you on the forehead. Then he placed his mask on.

"please don't tell anyone that (y/n) is here and I'm operating her," said BaekHyun to the nurses, "I don't want any of my family members or her family members to find out. If they do, she will have an extremely hard time. This is due to family personal issues."

"what do we say if your parents or her parents asked?" asked the nurse who is in charge of the phone

"just say that I'm doing an operation. Her name is Lee GaHye. That's what it is on the legal documents," replied BaekHyun, "make sure JongDae stays in a room. I want to personally make sure he's okay before I dismissed him from the hospital."

The nurse nodded. Then the surgery started. He worked patiently and concentrated really hard. As you were someone that he really loves, he worked even harder to make sure you were okay. He was focus. In the middle of the surgery, BaekHyun made an accident during the surgery which makes a squirt of blood on him. Then your heartbeat was slowing down. BaekHyun panicked. 

"Dr Byun! her heartbeat is dropping!" warned the nurse

BaekHyun tried to remain calm. He quickly fixed his mistake and tried to save your heartbeat. After several attempts, your heartbeat became stable again. BaekHyun felt relief. When he finished the first part of the surgery of the surgery. He stopped.

"part one of the surgery is successful," announced BaekHyun, "we will rest for 5 minutes before continuing with the second part. How is the patient's condition?"

"heart beat is normal. blood pressure is normal," replied the nurse

"thank you. go and get a drink and be back in 5 minutes," said BaekHyun, "thank you for your hard work."

The nurses nodded. They left the operation theatre to take a break. BaekHyun also left the theatre. He took off his gloves and grabbed the water bottle nearby. He quickly have a sip of water. Then he washed his hands, wore a new pair of gloves and went back to the theatre. He held onto your hand while lightly touch your cheeks.

"you scared me so much," said BaekHyun, "I was so scared that I was going to loose you. please be strong for the next part of the surgery. Then we will run away together. I will be in your life for the rest of our lives."

BaekHyun kissed you on the cheek. Then the nurses came in and got ready.

"let part 2 of the operation begin," announced BaekHyun
