"VIKRAM BARN GET IN THE CAR NOW!"

"LEAVE HIM ALONE!"

"HE DOESN'T HAVE TO GO!"

"Vik sweetie, please get in the car. Your father and I want to leave soon."

"No, I'm not going back there."

Five people talking at once is chaos and following the separate conversations is stressful. I approach the bickering group and stand next to Vik. Ethan and Harry sigh in relief, but, the two who I'm assuming are Vik's parents bristle.

"Who the hell are you?!"

I pay no mind to Vik's father, instead I slip my arm around my baby's waist and hand him the leash to Olive. The small dog plops down on his feet, exhausted from jogging across the lot.

"So that's where you stashed your dog. Now that you have her, get in the car."

"Actually sir. Olive is just here to keep Vik calm. Your son isn't going with you and I'm mortified that you would try to force him back. Especially after what happened."

Both of them looking taken aback at my authoritative, but well mannered talking.

"Vik, I've called up all your friends and talked to them. Lachlan even says he misses you and wants you back!"

I've never seen someone go that pale that fast.
