"Do I need to tell you to eat your food? You'd expect someone as old as you to know what to do when at a breakfast table." I muttered over to Matthew who sat beside me.
It was the next morning and also the day of the Fourth of July party that the Hazner's were hosting. Mathew's parents, my mother and Daniel has already left and had promised to come back before the party. This meant that the rest of us were left to do whatever we wanted until around 4 or 5 when the party would start.
The eight of use along with Xavier were put back having breakfast together. We had staff prepare food for us.
Matthew was feeling a bit better than yesterday but it wasn't like he could stand for a long time. To get him down here was a hassle itself. He was in a mood. Firstly he refused to let me help him dress. I mean, not like he could do it himself. Along with that, he refused to even get out of bed. It wasn't until I had Chris get him out and make him do it all. That brings us to now. He couldn't have his medication without eating first. And fortunately for me, eating was the last thing he wanted to do.
You know I tried. I really did try. I tried to be considerate of his feelings and let it slide thinking that he was hurting and the pain was probably speaking. Not him. But there's only so much I could go through. He was being this way to everyone. So now he'll get a taste of his own medicine.
"You can just give me the pills now and we can get this over with." He muttered.
"How about...no." I rolled my eyes and fed a spoonful of oatmeal to Xavier. I turned back to Matthew as I let Xavier munch on the food in his mouth. "You will finish your food or you can forget about me being nice to you."
"So you're going to blackmail me to eat now?" He grumbled.
"Think of it more as an incentive. Eat, and you'll get Xavier and I. Don't eat, you'll suffer with pain–literally." I shrugged turning back to Xavier to feed him another spoon.
By the time I turned back to Matthew, he was finally eating his food. I inwardly grinned as I popped a strawberry in my mouth.
"So, what's the plan for today?" Chris asked. "Emma?"
"Well," she put her cup of coffee down, "I'm going back to Paris right after our stay here is over so I have a phone call to get done but I can join you all after it."
"Paris? You didn't tell me this." Matthew scowled.
"That's where I live Matthew. I only came back for a bit. You knew I was going to go back sooner or later. I have to work on my collection for Paris fashion week." She shrugged.
"What he means is that, it seems a bit too sudden. You just came back 2 weeks ago." Chris tried.
"Yes. And now I'm going back." She said slowly. "What's your point?"
Matthew opened his mouth to speak. We'll probably yell and right now, the last thing we needed was yelling so I put my hand on his forearm and squeezed it a bit to stop. Right now, the better brother to handle this was Chris. Matthew looked down at me and scowled.
"What?"
"Let him do it. You can talk to her later when you've calmed down."
"Em, we're only asking. That's it. How about you let Lindsey and I come with you? We haven't seen your life there so it'll be fun." Chris tried. "Besides Nate and I have business there in a few weeks anyways. So the three of us can just join you."
