* This is a poem about my battles with eating disorders. I refer to my eating disorder by names, which is actually really common among the eating disordered community. Ed= the overal eating disorder (who I see as masculine and is thus portrayed as so in this poem). Ana= the anorexic periods I go through. Mia= the bulimic periods I go through. I am diagnosed as ED-NOS, which basically means that I have characteristics of both anorexia and bulimia, and both are equally as strong. Comment, Vote, Fan, and let me know what you think!

Only Because I Love Them

He tells me I'm special

That I'm meant for great things

He is my best friend

But sometimes he's mean

But only because he loves me

He's with me through every moment

Scrutinizing every detail

Molesting my mind

And taking over

But only because he loves me

He says he means well

And he wants what's best

So he tells me all the rules

That I must obey

But only because he loves me

He introduces me to Ana and Mia

His co-workers

He says they will help me

And I must do everything they say

But only because they love me

Ana is harsh and unforgiving

She's a dictator that must be followed

She calls me all these names

Her words hurt, but they are true

But only because she loves me

Mia is nicer, lenient, fair

She teaches me how to take care of my mistakes

But it's not without sacrifice

Because I am left with no more voice, and even less of a smile

But only because she loves me

Ana, Mia, and Ed

Perfect me and shape me

To fit their mold

But their mold keeps getting smaller

Until I can't keep up anymore

So I just give them complete control

But only because I love them
