JESSICA'S POV

What just happened? That was super weird. When Jared walked past me I had no idea what to do. I could feel him staring at me. He probably thinks that I am a complete and total nerd. Out of all the days that I wear my glasses (which isn't very often) I just happen to run into an amazingly attractive guy! What are the odds?

Now, I have more of a reason not to go shopping at the store he just happens to work at. Maybe he won't notice me. And maybe, just maybe he will be on break or something. I'm silently having a panic attack.

"You better be ready to leave", what am I saying I'm not even ready to leave yet. Sadly, she is ready.

We get out of the car and I have butterflies. I thought I would never be in this situation because I made a promise to myself that I would never fall  for a player like him. Well I technically haven't "fallen" for him yet I have just.... stumbled a little bit.

Alexa is fixing her hair and she asks me if she looks okay and I said yes. There is a part of me who hopes I look okay too, but then I remind myself of my promise.

As soon as I see his brown hair and khakis, my heart beats a little faster. But, it's when he turns around that my heart blows up. I look down at the floor and keep walking. I make Alexa go down the list and try to distract myself. We have half of the stuff on the list and that's when I realize
someone is behind me. I look at their shoes and I recognize his Clark's.

"Excuse me. Sorry, but I was just wondering if you need any help finding anything?", says Ryan.

"No thanks, I think we got it. Thanks for the offer." What was I suppose to say?

I know Ryan. To be more specific, it is Ryan John Taylor. We have Honors Algebra together and we have went to the same school together since we were in junior high. I guess we might be considered as friends? He is handsome, if I might add. He has shaggy blonde hair with blue eyes and he always wears his Clark's.

JARED'S POV

I clock in and notice that I'm not late. I have a tendency to be late for work, mostly because of Shane. I go over to Ryan and start helping him bag groceries.

I look up and Ryan's face is frozen, his mouth slightly opened like he was going to say something. No words can describe what just walked in the door. It's her again, the girl I saw in the hallway. She is so beautiful. She looks up and immediately looks to the floor, just like she did earlier. I am starting to think that she is either shy or she wants to avoid me. She is with, what I'm guessing is her sister, and she isn't too bad off either.

Ryan said he would be back in a minute. I want to go talk to that girl, but I'm afraid I'll get in trouble since I'm on the clock.

*****

It's been a while since I have seen Ryan. Maybe he went on break or something. But then I look over and see him talking to that girl. They look like they know each other. She doesn't look down at the floor when he talks to her.

Now I'm starting to get worried that she is avoiding me on purpose. Should I try to talk to her?

Okay, I see her. She is ready to check out. As the bag boy I have to rotate which line I help at. I go to line number two, which is where she is. I try to think of what to say to her.

"Did you find everything you needed?", I ask. She shakes her head yes and looks to the ground.

I work up enough nerve to ask a better question, "May I ask what your name is?"

She finally looks up and says, "Jes... Jessica Matthews". I've heard that name before, I just don't know where.

I don't know what else to say, that was a little awkward. I'm guessing she feels the same way since she hurries to leave. I tell her to have a great day and she says thank you.

I watch her leave and I wish I could have had better words to say. She probably thinks I'm a creep.
