Uta's POV

The next day started as any other, we trained and ate lunch a few hours after. Then Mizu and I took turns checking up on Nya and Kai. Nya was awake, and says she's feeling better. She still isn't walking around just yet, but she's slowly getting there. But Kai on the other hand..

His wounds are deep. Zane said they were caused by Kai's own blade, along with a few burns here and there. I would like to think that the demon some how used Kai's powers against him, instead of the possibility that Kai did this to himself..

Mizu and I stepped back aboard the ship after taking a short walk along the beach side. Mizu managed to find some really pretty sea shells, and she wants to give some to both Kai and Nya.

"See the blue ones are for Nya, and the pink and peach ones are for Kai!" Mizu cheered and showed me the pile of shells in her hands.

"Yeah, they're nice." I replied, only half listening really. I can't get the thought of Kai's current condition out of my head. Why does this hurt me so bad? Kai getting hurt..I wasn't there to do anything..I can't help but feel responsible somehow. I watched as Mizu jumped and skipped to the center of the deck. She smiled at me and the wind blew her brown hair back, including her bangs. I noticed the scar still there across her forehead.

That's why it hurts.. someone else I care about got hurt and I couldn't do a thing about it.

Wait...do I really care that much about Kai? It's not like I've known him for very long.. But.. he was one of the first people I met in the city.. and he's really nice.. and strong.. and that's how I know he'll get through this! He has to.. he's Kai!

"Uta?" Mizu asked, her head bent in an angel that made her bangs once again cover her scar.

"Uh, yeah. Sorry, zoned out for a second." I replied casually. Mizu shrugged and grabbed my arm,

"Whatever, come on! Let's give Nya and Kai the shells!" She cheered, I laughed and we both jogged inside.

After reaching Nya's and our room, I knocked on the door quietly.

"Come in!" Nya's voice replied to the knocking through the door. I slowly opened the door and entered calmly.

"Hey-"

"HIYA!" Mizu exclaimed and bursted through the door behind me. I jumped a little and Nya laughed.

"Hey guys! What's up?" Nya asked casually, sitting up her bed with a few pillows supporting her.

"I got something for you!" Mizu cheered and pulled out two mini and one large blue shells out of her light grey, pull-over hoodie's pockets. Nya smiled,

"Wow, those are nice. Thanks Mizu." Nya took the shells and played with them in her hands. Mizu nodded and smiled.

"How are you feeling?" I asked, starting to feel like I should have brought her something too.

"Good, thanks for asking. My side still kinda hurts, but over all, really I feel great! Zane said I can try walking again later today." Nya answered and set the shells gently on her bedside table.

"That's awesome!" Mizu exclaimed and pumped the air with her fists. Nya laughed.

"Well, I'm glad you're doing better!" I smiled.

After our visit with Nya, Mizu and I headed into the infirmary to see Kai. Kai still hasn't woken up yet, but his breathing is regular.

Mizu and I carefully stepped inside the room. I shut the door behind us and Mizu walked over to Kai. She knelt down by his bed and sat the sea shells on the nightstand.
