On Tuesday the child is full of grace
I woke up to Draco bouncing again. Thankfully it was on the bed and not me this time. "Harry! Sev'rus isn' awake yet."
"So why are you waking me up?" I leant over to the bedside table and checked my watch. "It's 4:30 in the morning."
"I can't sleep, I wanna go ou'side." He said, slightly out of breath from jumping. I groaned and threw the covers off, shuffling over to the chest of drawers and grabbing out my new clothes.
"Are we gonna go ou'side?" He asked, jumping off the bed.
"Yeah, we can go out into town if you want." I sighed pulling my shirt over my head. Draco grinned and took hold of my hand, all but dragging me out of the house.
Most of the stores were still closed, but a select few; the cafe, the clothing store and a bookstore, joined the streetlamps in illuminating the streets.
"You want to get something to eat?" I asked him, walking over to the cafe.
"Hot chocl't!" He cheered.
"You drink that, what do you want to eat?"
Draco thought for a moment. "Mush-mellows."
I let out a sigh as we walked in.
"Good morning, how may I help you this morning?" The less-than-enthusiastic barista droned.
"A hot chocolate with marhsmallows and a sweet tea, to-go thank you." I rattled off while Draco hid behind my leg. The barista nodded and turned to begin making our drinks.
"He your son?" He asked me.
"Uh, no. He's my-" Before i could say 'little brother' Draco peered out from behind my leg and yelled "Boyfrien'!"
The barista raised his eyebrow at me.
"I'm babysitting him while his parents are away." I said quickly. The barista nodded and sat our drinks on the bench.I paid for the drinks and passed Draco his, nodding a goodbye to the man as we left.
"Boyfriend?" I asked him as we sipped our drinks.
"Ye, I read 'bout it in the book I got." He said, pulling the lid off the cup and stuffing the marshmallows in his mouth.
"So you think I'm your boyfirend?"
Draco looked at me, almost alarmed. "You're not?"
I looked at his small and worried face and my heart melted. "Yeah, Yeah Draco. I'm your boyfriend." Draco smiled and put the lid back on his cup, drinking it happily. I took a sip from my tea as we walked past the clothing store.
"Hey! Hey, uh, Harry wasn't it?" A chipper voice called out. I turned around to see Melody standing behind us.
"Oh, uh, hey Melody." I said.
"You two are up early, enjoying the morning air?" She asked.
"Draco couldn't sleep." I said simply. Draco waved before running off to dance around
"So, are you two from around here or?"
We're from Hogwarts." Draco called out.
Melody's eyes widened. "No way, you two are wizards?" She asked excitedly. Not the reaction I was expecting.
"Uhm, yes."
"That's so cool! My mum and dad met at Hogwarts, my brother's going there at the moment." she chattered.
"Your brother? Why aren't you?"
"Oh, I don't have magic. It's a shame really, but I'm fine with it." Melody smiled brightly at me.
"So, um, we should get going. It was great to see you again Melody."
I said, after Draco started tugging on my hand.
"Oh okay, see you 'round." She turned to let herself into the clothing store.
"Can you teach me to make a sparkly animal when we get home?" Draco asked, trying to stick his now empty cup in my pocket.
"That's probably more Severus' job." I told him, taking the cup and holding it.
I opened the door to see Severus sitting at the table, waiting for us.
"Where have you been?" He asked.
"Draco couldn't sleep so we went out into town."
"Mel'dy is'sa squib!" Draco said, taking his cup back and walking into the kitchen.
"Did anything else happen?" Severus asked me once Draco was gone.
"Not much, other than finding out that Melody, the clothing store clerk, comes from a magical family." I shrugged.
"I meant between you and Draco."
I hesitated before answering. "He called me his boyfriend. Said he learnt it from the book he's reading."
Severus sighed. "He's getting closer t the spell reversal." He muttered, standing up and walking out of the room.
"Severus, wait. What do you mean 'closer to spell reversal'?"
"I meant what I said Potter. Now," He poked his head through the kitchen doorway. "Come along Draco, we'll practice your...Sparkly animal."
I tried to muffle my laughter at hearing him say that.
"Okey-dokey." Draco said, skipping out if the kitchen.
Once we were all in the backyard again, Severus gave Draco his wand. "It's true name is a Patronus. You have to think of the happiest moments in your life to conjure one." Severus explained, pulling out his own wand. "Expecto Patronum." He stated, the doe leaping from his wand.
Draco held his wand out, mimicing Severus. "Expecto Patronum." A bright, wispy cloud billowed from his wand tip. "Is my 'tronus a dust bunny?" He asked, looking back to me.
I laughed slightly and crouched down behind him. "No, you just need to think of a happier memory." I gently held his arm so it would sit straighter. "Try again, you can do it."
Draco looked ahead. "Expecto Patronum!" He said again. The wispy light was brighter than before as the silvery animal sprang forward.
