Chapter 5

Winter's POV

I decided not to go straight home after school. I knew it would freak my dad out horribly, that was a plus, but I needed to be alone. So like all people needing to be alone I go to an over crowded, stinky ice cream parlor.

I came here often so when I walked up to the counter I saw an old friend. Her name was Sasha. I know it is super sad when you know all the workers at a restaurant by name.

"Hey Winter! Triple Chocolate in a waffle cone with whip cream?" Sasha asked smiling, I had gotten to know her pretty good while I was waiting for my order, just small talk and she didn't ask to many questions so I didn't have to lie to her.

As soon as I got my amazing ice cream cone I sat down at a table for two in the back of the restaurant where no one could see me. I ate the chocolate and was thinking things over when a scent hit me.

My eyes instantly went to the door where a man stood smiling casually at the cashier. I knew he could smell me to.

He buys some ice cream and comes to sit by me. He ordered the same kind of ice cream as me!

"Great choice Cousin!" The man across from me says.

"Victor! What are you doing here?" If you have never met my cousin, consider yourself lucky. He is a 'lone wolf'. He technically belongs to my pack, but he wonders around the country doing god knows what. Nobody really likes him, except for my mom. She tries to be nice, he just has a way of ticking people off.

"You know, visiting my family and stuff." He grinned at me.

"And stuff?" I asked. He was suspicious at times and I was wondering what those things were.

"So, why is the Alpha Female by herself in an ice cream shop?" He leaned in and whispered to me.

"I am not Luna yet. I have to find my mate." I should not have said that. As soon as it left my mouth I regretted it.

"I thought that... Zane-guy was your mate." His eyes gleamed with mischief.

"Zach! He is, but we have to be seventeen for him to mark me. Then I can become Luna." Thankfully I had just over a year until that day.

"Your ice cream is dripping." He said standing up and leaning against the garbage can as some random couple tried to throw away napkins.

"Do you need a ride home? You shouldn't be out on the streets alone." I so wanted to kill him. He just wants to get some more secrets out of me

"No it's alright. I can walk." I stand up and throw away my ice cream soup. "Tell my dad that I'm ok and I'll be home before dinner."

He nods and walks out.

I wait until he is out of the parking lot before leaving also.

On my way out I bumped into a group of three eighteen year old guys.

"Hey babe." The leader said. Well I am not in the mood.

"Bye creeper." I brushed pass him only to feel him grab my arm.

I turn around and punch him in the jaw. He falls to the ground and I smile sweetly at him and friends. They all back away.

"Like I said, bye creeper." And with that I run away until I reached the woods that border our land.

I walked through it. I had been exploring the area ever since I could crawl.

When I get to the clearing I sit down suddenly feeling very light headed. Why was my life such a mess!

I kept thinking about every bad thing that had happened to me. Well it took me awhile. I finally looked up and saw that it was getting dark, and I promised to be home before supper.

Running as fast as I could I make it home. I stop just outside. Well, lets just say I stopped in the wrong spot. Right in the target if a bird. I got pooped on.

I took off my shirt, now just in a tank top, and rolled it up and laid it in the bushes.

'This day could not get any worse!' I thought punching a tree to release my anger.

I swear I heard the world say, 'Challenge Accepted!'

A/N

Sorry it was so short. I was on vacation and on the 4 hour drive back I wrote, then it got deleted! I planned to finish writing it when I got home, but I was exhausted. So I wrote this when I got up. Sorry!
