Winters POV
No, no, no.
It can't be. Me and Brice are mortal enemies. Not mates. But, in the same way, we are mates. How does this work? I thought a mate was someone you love.
'Can I speak to you, Winter?' Brice asks quietly, before grabbing my hand and pulling me out the to the backyard. It was raining again.
'What?' I snap.
'I-I think were...y'know...mates' He stutters. This just back it up even more- if we both feel it.
'I felt that too. Shoot, I think Zach is here!' I gasp, looking at the tall blonde boy through the kitchen window. My mum has actually banned him from the house, but he's always return.
'Should we go to the forest?' He suggests quietly. Wow, Brice actually came up with a good idea.
'Yea' I reply, shifting into my white wolf. He shifts into a midnight black one. We break into a sprint, running until we're out of breath. Atleast its a Saturday, so we don't have to go to school and can spend the whole day figuring this out.
We reach the end of our territory, where I shift back and he does the same.
'What are the main things mates can do that they can't with other people?' He asks.
'Wolves can only have mind link with their family and their mate, and they can sense when the other one is in pain or cheating on them' I explain, recalling what my dad told me ages ago.
'Should I try mindlink?' He asks.
'Go ahead' I reply.
'Can you hear me?' His voice booms throughout my head.
'Yea' I reply, still in mind-link.
'Next up is the pain thing, how are we meant to test this?' Brice asks nervously.
'I have an idea' I smirk, slapping him hard round the face. Sure enough my chest becomes tight and pain is in my left cheek. I guess what goes around comes around.
'What the hell?!' He yells.
'Brice, I feel the pain too!' I reply, stroking my saw cheek.
'Karma!' He grins.
'Does that mean...No it can't....'
'Winter, we are mates!'
