'Winter, I swear to God if you have that skirt any shorter you will be the shame of our pack!' My mother hisses, pulling at the black skirt which Chris had chosen for me.

'Mom, all girls my age have skirts like this!' I whine.

'Winter Ramane Fay, you will listen to me!' She snaps.

'Okay mother' I snarl, and push her out my way and step inside the dinerlIts a small one, run by my Dad's best friend.

'Leroy! Make sure she's good' She hisses to my dad and walks back to the car. My dad grabs my hand and pulls me in. I let out a sigh, but close my mouth as my fathers head jerks in my direction, sending me a death glare.

'Dad, I need the toilet. I'll meet you at the table' I whisper. My dad lets out a sigh, but waves me off. I follow the signs towards the toilets.

It seems that everything in this diner is 60's themed.

There is 'Blue Suede Shoes' playing from a Jukebox in the background, and the waitress' are in the traditional diner uniform on rollerskates.

I wish I'd been alive in the 60's.

I let out a sigh of happiness, and about 2 seconds later I am met by a bright red with 'LADIES TOILET' scrawled across the front in gold lettering. I go inside. I don't even need the toilet. I just told my dad that, because thats 5 less minutes to spend with the people who expect me to protect and lead them.

I tidy up my blonde hair, which Chris threw into a side braid for me. I quickly splash my face with water. Some of my foundation runs off my face and into the water, causing it to turn a dirty colour. I dry my face with some of the paper towels, before heading back into the restaurant.

My boyfriend, Zach, is sitting at table with my father (who looks very annoyed) and about seven members of my pack.

'Dad, whats with the annoyed look?' I frown, as I slide into the booth next to Zach.

'You didn't tell me that your boyfriend from another pack would be joining us' My dad says in a low growl, as his deep brown eyes bore straight into my icey blue ones. I turn my head down to the menu and let out a small sigh.

Zach puts his mussely shoulder round my weak, boney ones.

'You okay babe?' He asks through mind-link, which is basically a link between his head and mine (not literally, just mentally) and we can speak to each other telepathically.

'I'm nervous' I reply.

'Don't be-And stop the other guy in your pack staring at you'

Zach lets out a growl, and death glares at Martin, the 12 year old boy staring at me. Tears fill his eyes, and he begis to tremble.

'Gosh, Zach. I'm not gonna be taken by Martin! Leave the poor boy alone'

'Don't tell me what to do'

'Whatever. But you hardly let me breathe in front of another guy'

Zach doesn't reply, but just continues to sip his Diet Coke.

'So, Winter, what kind of qualities make you a good Luna?' A member of the pack asks.

'Well I'm a very fast runner, I enjoy protecting people, I'm strong and I have had alot of power before' I explain.

'Very good. Now would you have a good mate?' They inquire.

'Well, when I claim Winter I'll become Alpha and take charge of the pack' Zach says coldly.

'Obviously, I'll be in charge, but Zach will have some power' I jump in quickly, trying to avoid angering my father who I knew hated Zach's guts.

'Not nescarily' Zach hisses under his breath, so that only I can hear him.

'Thats my girl' My dad smirks, and then sends a glare Zach's way.

'Why does your father hate?' He asks through mindlinks.

'No clue' I lie.

My dad was convinced that Zach was part of the Dark Moon pack, our arch enemies, but I knew he wasn't. He was in a pack situated on the outskirts of my town.

'Winter, I need a word with you outside' Zach growls, and grabs my hand hard and pulls me outside.

'What was that all about?' He yells as we reach the back part of the cafe. No-one is out here, because the sky is grey and looks like its about to pour with rain.

'I don't want you controlling my pack' I shrug.

Its true. He might be able to control the football team at school, and even a few of the teachers, but he is NOT controlling me or any of my pack.

'But I'm your mate, which will make me Alpha' He growls.

'Zach, get it through your head. I am NOT your mate, I am your GIRLFRIEND. Yes, you might be my true mate, but I'm 15, so I have no clue who my mate is!' I shout.

'You ARE my true mate Winter! You're perfect for me! You're the head cheerleader, you're popular! I'm the captain of the football team and I'm popular too!'

Crap.

I've been trying to avoid this conversation.

I don't know if he IS my mate. I've been so unsure of my feelings for him lately, he's been a right jerk to me, my pack AND my family.

And he thinks I'm perfect for him, just because I'm popular. It sounds as if he want's his life to be based around the movies where the jock is dating the head cheerleader/queen bee.

But in none of these movies was the jock the werewolf.

'Zach, this isn't Mean Girls. Its called Real Life' I snap.

Maybe I should be careful about what I say and do. I don't want to lose Zach, I guess I love him and if anyone can control the pack, it's him.
