Cato and myself spent about an hour talking to each other, getting to know the other better.
I found out that he volunteered because he didn't want his brother to have the hounor of being the Tribute from District Two, especially since he was the last chance that he was going to have to volunteer as he had not long turned eighteen.
He also told me that Clove only volunteered to spite him and to prove she was the better Tribute, capable of anything that he was.
"You know, it's getting pretty late, we should probably head back up." I laughed slightly as I made a move to stand up.
"Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm sure Clove will really be missing me." he chuckled.
"And I'm sure Peeta is missing me even more." I sighed as I remembered the look on his face when I had basically admitted I was considering joining the Careers, just to keep myself alive for as long as I possibly could.
I needed to get home though.
I needed to make sure I won this thing for Prim because she needed me and, telling you the truth, I needed her as well.
"So, I'll see you in training tomorrow then?" he smiled at me as we headed towards the elevator with each other.
"Not if Haymitch murders me in my sleep you won't." I joked, as he pressed the button for the second floor and I pressed the one for the twelfth floor; the two of us going our separate ways in just a matter of seconds.
I watched him as he walked into his apartment, giving me a slight smile as the doors closed and all that remained to be heard was both his mentor and escort shouting at him for conversing with the enemy- the enemy being me in this case.
I quickly emerged onto my floor from a bombardment of questions from Haymitch, Effie and Peeta; it's almost like they thought they were my keepers and they were in charge of what I can and can't do in this place.
I was probably going to die anyway, so what was the point in even bothering to be nice to the Careers and trying to keep myself off their kill list?
"Where have you been young lady? We have been worried about you and thought something had happened." Effie stressed.
"Chill out. I was just in the Training Centre releasing some anger." I shrugged at her, heading towards my bedroom, only for Haymitch to stop me and look in annoyance.
You know, if looks could kill, then I would have just dropped dead without even being able to blink.
"And who was down there with you?" Haymitch snapped at me, the smell of alcohol making me feel sick.
"No one. I was alone shooting some arrows into a plastic dummy." I replied.
"Funny that because Peeta-"
"You sent Peeta to spy on me?" I shouted angrily.
They had no right to do that to me. I didn't even know Peeta that well, so I don't know why he was being so protective over me; like he would do anything to prevent me from dying.
All I knew was that he worked with his parents at their bakery and he saved my life once. Just after my father died, I was giving everything I had to my mother and Prim; meaning I often went without and was close to starvation at one point.
"I wouldn't call it spying, simply checking-up on you." Effie stated.
"I didn't want to do it. They-"
"Then you should never have done it. Eurgh. Just leave me alone. All of you." I shouted and then stormed off into my bedroom, throwing myself into the pillow and quickly falling asleep; my dreams being filled with the happier times I had spent with both Prim and Gale before this whole thing happened.
