"No. No. No. No," Effie shouted at me as I, once again, got the way in which I was supposed to walk totally wrong.

I didn't even know there was right and a wrong way to walk until I spent three hours with Effie. Every single time I put a foot in front of the other, there was something wrong with what I was doing. I was so fed up with her now.

Though, it was still better than spending the day with Haymitch. I get the pleasure of two hours in his company after lunch and I can't tell you just how little I was looking forward to those two hours.

I think being shot with my own bow was more appealing than spending time with a drunk who, even if he did win the games once, was about as much use as a chocolate teapot. He had already decided that I wasn't going to win, that I was going to fall at the first hurdle.

I don't know why he was putting so much effort in if he truly believed I was going to be dead by the end of the first day. It all seemed rather pointless to me, but I wasn't going to argue.

I didn't want to spend my last day alive arguing with a pathetic and worthless man. I had far better things to do beside worry about what his next comment was going to be, or when he was next going to strike with some degrading remark.

"What now?" I finally asked.

"Too much sway," Effie replied, her voice going right through me. "Watch."

I watched her as she walked from one end of the room to the other. Her hand was raised slightly, as if greeting an imaginary audience, and there was next to no movement in her hips. She was gliding alng the floor from one spot to the next, and that's how I needed to be.

"Like this?" I said as I walked across the room again, but I was only met with a disapproving head shake from Effie.

"I don't know about you, but I sure could use some food," Effie sighed as she walked out of the room. She must have realised I was never going to walk how she wanted me to and, when I step foot on that stage, I was going to be the most unelegant and proper person she had ever had the misfortune of escorting.

I was never going to be able to do what she was asking of me and, to be honest, I didn't really care. Being able to walk properly wasn't going to save me when I was being threatened with death and being able to speak properly wasn't going to keep me alive if I caught an infection of some description.

Everything Effie was teaching me was absolutely useless unless you made it out of the games alive. I had long since accepted that wasn't actually going to happen, which is probably why I wasn't actually putting in the effort to do what Effie wanted me to do.

We stepped into the elevator, only to find that it was already occupied with Brutus and Cato.

I would have happily waited for the next elevator, but Effie pushed me in and I was made to deal with it. The cold hard stare from Brutus was enough to make me want to drop dead right there.

I turned to look at Cato quickly, only to see that he had one hell of a cut under his eye and a faint bruise on his right cheek. I would like to think that he had obtained both injuries while he was training, but I already knew that wasn't the case.

Something must have happened last night when he got back to his floor. I immediately felt bad for him and wanted to hug him, make sure he was alright, but the intimidating stare of Brutus prevented me from actually doing that.

I just turned my attention back to the doors in front of us, waiting for them to open on Cato's floor and hope that he would take the awkwardness with him.

"Miss Everdeen. It would seem you are one to look out for," Brutus suddenly spoke. His tone was harsh, cold like the blood which ran through his veins.

"Would it now?" I asked, uninterested in anything the man had to say to me.

"Yes. You are a sneaky one. People should definitely keep an eye on you," Brutush replied. I only hoped that no one else was hearing this conversation.

I can't imagine what would happen if anyone caught wind of the fact a District Two victor actually had the belief in a District Twelve Tribute. I would pay for coming between victory and the rightful Victor if I was to win, and I didn't feel like facing that crowd of people.

"I am nothing. I am just a girl from District Twelve who wanted to protect her sister. I am not even here to win," I shrugged.

I may have been lying a little and actually wanted to win this thing, just so I could go back home to my family, but I didn't really old much hope that I was going to do anything amazing.

Even with Cato on my side, telling me that he was going to protect me. In the end though, that may not be enough and I could still end up going home in a wooden box.

"You are worth more than you think," Brutus smirked, his hand landing on Cato's shoulder with such a thud, I would be surprised if it didn't leave a mark. "You really should consider that alliance with the Careers. It may just serve you well."

"As tempting as the offer sounds, I would much rather go it alone," I muttered.

"Shame. You could have gone far," Brutus chuckled as the elevator came to a stop on their floor. He pushed me out of the way, forcing me against the wall, as he walked out of it and into their living quarters.

"Katniss," Cato muttered as he walked past me.

"Cato," I returned the pleasantries. Cato's sad eyes were the last thing I saw as the doors closed and we continued our journey up to the twelfth floor. There was something different about him today and I didn't like it.

They had done something to him last night and, thanks to that, he wanted nothing more to do with me. He was going to kill me at the first chance he could and I don't know why I was even surprised.

Hell, he was a Career. He had been trained to kill without so much as a second thought.

It's only been four months but here is an update. Sorry if it's crap, it is just a filler before the drama all kicks off in the next chapter with the bloodbath.

There are going to be a coule of unexpected deaths within that chapter. They may have you wondering why I have killed them off so soon, but everything has a reason and my reasons shall be revealed soon.

I hope you enjoyed this anyway.
