I got so tired of being cooped up inside all day, so I took a walk. As I do there are people yelling at each other, children crying from everything happening, and gangs fighting and yelling. The screeching sound of breaks, and people. That it itself was exhausting. When I got so tired of that, I looked up to the sky to find some source of hope, but there was none. Nope! Nothing but grey clouds of hate and shattered hopes and dreams. The grayness ate at my heart. Bringing every horrible memory of abuse to the surface. Once I was tired of what I saw and couldn't do anything to fix, I turned around, and headed straight for our crazy house.

When I do get home, I find my mother almost ready to leave. "Sabrina, there is cereal in the cabinet for dinner, the kids need to be fed, bathed and put in bed BEFORE 9:15! I have to go to the bar, your father will be home at about 11 O'clock - oh - and I want you in bed the same as everyone else." "What! But mom, I've got homework to do and It's..." I looked up at the small clock gently tilted sideways on the wall, "EIGHT-THIRTY!" and I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my left cheek, she slapped me again, 'Why mother, why do you hate me so much! You treat me like crap and don't even act like a real mother. I'm the real mother in the house, I take care of the kids, the house, barely have a job any more, and still barely get my homework done! For pete sake! I'm only Nine years old!!' I thought, and then I was back into reality. "You young lady need to lose the attitude!" And she swept herself out the door and slammed it so hard the little clock on the wall, fell, and nearly broke.

So I did my chores in a hurry after putting bowls of cereal in front of the kids, put them in the tub while doing my homework, and got them in bed barely on time. When I tuck Serena in, she says, "Sabrina, is daddy going to come home tonight?" "Yes baby doll," I replied, "but I promise I won't let him do anything to disturb your sleep." she smiled and closed her eyes to sleep as I sung to her.

'Rock-a-bye, baby

In the treetop

When the wind blows

The cradle will rock

When the bough breaks

The cradle will fall

And down will come baby

Cradle and all'

She fell quickly asleep. I got myself ready for bed after I put matthew, and Kyla in bed. It was hard to sleep that night. So It seemed so painful and miserable. I sat there, gazing out my window, looking for faith peaking through the clouds to the midnight sky. Suddenly, I felt myself dozing off. I was finally asleep.

'SLAM!!!' I heard chuckles, I rolled my eyes, my father was home. "Sabrina!" I shoved the covers off of me in a hurry, and ran to the kitchen where he was. And as I turned to go into the kitchen, I had a very large pain in the head, he had picked me up by the hair. "OUCH! Please put me down!" I tried to be as quiet as possible, and I looked up and there was another woman - or witch - who laughed hysterically as he tossed me to the floor. "Why aren't the dishes done!" he yelled. I looked at the sink and there were only two cups! TWO! "I'm sorry, it won't happen again. Just please don't wake the kids up!" I pleaded, "Hah! You think I care! Get it done now, and I don't want to see you for the rest of the night. Understand!" "Y-y-yes s-sir." I replied. Once I finished I went straight to bed and tried to get as much sleep as possible. But when I awoke, the witch was gone, and my mother never knew the beast was there.
