That night when we got home. We ate some more deer and talked a bit. Afterwards, we went to sleep. I was extremely happy that we found us a job. We would start the next day. And at once, my thoughts faded, my eyes closed, and I began to dream of what tomorrow would be like.
As I woke up, turning over with a large yawn, there was a beam of light from the hole in the wall that I'd been meaning to fix. I pulled the thin blanket over my head, trying to resist waking up. When I heard a thud. My eyes shot open and I threw the cover off of me. I slowly walked to the tiny living room where the sound had come from. Before I reached the room, I grabbed my stick and was ready to fight. I jumped out and did not find someone who was a danger to me, just a hungry little chica who was about up to my chin but looked as if she was my age. My eyes went from battle, to surprise, to sorrow, and then to love.
"Darling, if you wanted something, you could've just asked. Come on, it's about time for breakfast anyway." I opened the door and then remembered, "Almost forgot, JONATHAN! WAKE UP SLEEPY HEAD!" I yelled, and then heard a large refusing to wake up moan.
I stomped through the kitchen, then the hallway. "JONATHAN!" I screamed at him. "Ugh what do you want!?" He yelled. "Omi Dios." I mumbled, but this time I wasn't going to. I pulled off his covers, and then pulled him off of his bed. I ran to fetch some water, and when I got back I dumped it on his head. "Wake up Jonathan. We have a visitor!" He shot up, "SABRINA!!! Really!? Ok ok, I'm up I'm up. Gosh!"
He was finally awake so I could talk to him. He sat in the corner of the small room, with his arms crossed. It was hilarious, his expression. "Ok, we have a visitor and she's hungry. Tidy up and get out here for some breakfast." as he nodded, I ran out the room and through the kitchen once again. "Come on darlin, let's make ya some food."
I crawled down the ladder and started to get the supplies to cook the food. "So what's your name?" I asked, "My name is Hazel," she quietly replied with a smile, but it was in a happy tone. I smiled at her, and she blushed shyly. "Well then Hazel, where are your parents?" I tried, and she turned her face, "I don't know." she replied. There was a pause of silence. "I'm so so sorry. Me and Jonathan were abandoned by our parents too." "I'm sorry," Hazel replied. And to stop the aggravating pauses, I started to cook the deer slices over the fire.
Soon after, Jonathan finally came down. "Well finally," I replied with a short sigh, "I was starting to worry." I said as me and Hazel giggled. "Hahaha," he mimicked us. "So what's for breakfast," he asked, "Same thing as yesterday and the day before that, and the day before that." I replied, "Are you kidding me?!"
I shook my head in reply, "Well fine then, so what's your name darlin?" he asked Hazel, "My name is Hazel, so are you two like brother and sister or something?" there was a loud "NO!" by us both, and she laughed. "I'd die if we were, I can't stand him sometimes, but he is new to these places so I still have time." and he gave me a confused look, "Excuse me?" he asked, "You know, like to not only get you used to these parts but also to make you stronger emotionally, physically and mentally." "Are you calling me weak?" he smirked.
"So, after breakfast, who want's to go find dinner? Because we're almost out of food." I asked laughing a guilty laugh. He rolled his eyes. "What?" Hazel asked, "You know, hunting?" Jonathan replied giggling at me, "It's a blast, I think you'll like it."
After we finished breakfast, we started off to go hunting. I honestly think that Hazel had a blast in the woods. I left Jonathan to teach her how to do things, while I went out and hunted for a few hours.
When I got back, I brought back about five rabbits. "Oh mi Dios!" Harmony exclaimed. "What did you do to those poor bunnies?!" she said as Jonathan laughed, "What are you talking about? These aren't bunnies, they're rabbits." I replied. "Oh, what's the difference. I refuse to eat these!" she said turning her head in anger. "Fine then starve to death." Jonathan replied, and she turned her face looking down. "They're just animals, there are millions of them. Plus we have to eat, because we could starve. One rabbit won't hurt." I told her. "Well, I'll wait until I'm hungry enough. And then, maybe, I'll eat it." she replied. She had the sweetest heart.
Since she was now apart of the group, we had to make her somewhere to sleep, so that night I slept in the kitchen floor, so she'd have a place to sleep. I woke up early that morning and started gathering supplies to start building her a treehouse.
At about eleven thirty, I was finished with the supplies and started to build. First I found a sturdy tree, then started to work on the base. Thankfully the old junk yard has plenty of old tools like bolts, nuts, hammers, wrenches, nails, etc. After I built the base, I started on the walls.
Once I'd finished that, I had to go to the junkyard to find some tarp for the ceiling. When I got back it was about one forty-five and they were awake. "Oh mi bondad! Where were you!" Hazel screamed as she ran up to me. "Me? I've been at the junkyard looking for some tarp for your treehouse. Why?" I asked.
"WHY!" she mimicked. "WHY! Because we-" she looked back at Jonathan who looked very confused by the word "we," she rolled her eyes continuing, "-I, thought something bad had happened to you!" she continued. "I tried to tell her, she just wouldn't listen!" Jonathan replied. "Listen to me," I said looking at them both, "I do this all the time, you don't need to worry about me, I'll be safe. I promise." and then turned around and left.
That night, I had gotten most of it done, but by that time it was twelve o'clock. I went to bed that night, and barely slept I was so stressed out. I felt like I had a real family though, like a new brother and sister. It was at the same time, stressing, but also one of the most wonderful things I'd ever encountered.
