June 2009
Summer decided to show its face with a vengeance. It had to be a good hundred degrees outside, if not hotter. Dee stood outside an abandoned warehouse waiting for Zay and Bear to meet up with him so they could discuss what was going down with the product since Josh got knocked on some bullshit.
Dee wiped sweat from his head as he pulled his phone from his pocket. He searched for some shade before deciding a nearby brick wall with a small shade would have to suffice. He walked over and unlocked his phone. Ruby made him download a video app since he chose to get rid of his iPhone. Opening the App, Dee clicked Ruby's contact.
Ruby was currently home for the summer. Whenever her punk ass little dude wasn't sniffing around, you could find her wherever Dee was.
Khalil showed up to April's door the morning after Ameerah's wedding and he was a hungover mess. He actually cried and told Ruby how sorry he was, and how much he loved her.
Not thinking to ask Khalil what he was sorry for, or where'd he spend the night for that matter, Ruby welcomed him back in with open arms.
Nia was still calling and begging for Dee's time, but he could no longer deal with her clingy ass. Plus, he knew her and Khalil were fucking around behind Ruby's back. The only reason Dee didn't bring it up to Ruby or address the issue, is because he didn't want to seem like a hater. He needed Ruby to find out and leave on her own, not on account of something he said.
"Hey big head," Dee joked when Ruby's picture popped up on the screen.
"Shut up stupid," Ruby giggled as she fixed her hair. "Where are you?"
"Meeting, but these niggas ain't here yet. Why you still in bed? I thought you and dude were going exploring or some other gay shit," Dee said throwing shots at Khalil.
Ruby sighed, "I thought so too, but apparently some of his frat brothers are in town and wanted to hang out. I guess that was more important to him."
"Fuck him," Dee blurted making Ruby laugh. "I'll come scoop you when I'm done with these niggas and we can do whatever you want."
"What if I wanna skate?" Ruby smirked. Dee sucked his teeth, she would want to do some extra gay shit.
"Ummm... No!" Dee laughed. Ruby put on her best puppy dog pout making him give in.
"Aite man, damn! I'll hit you when I'm on the way. These niggas pulling up now so I gotta go." Dee said seeing Zay and Bear pull in at the same time.
"Okayyyyy," Ruby pouted. "Love you, be safe."
"Aite, love you too."
Dee ended the call and slid his phone down in his pocket. He walked over and dapped both men who he now called his brothers up.
"Took you, niggas, long enough, it's hot as fuck out here!" Dee complained once the formalities were out of the way.
"Why didn't you sit in your car in the air nigga? We're here on time, your ass is the only one that likes to show up thirty minutes early and shit," Zay frowned leaning up against his truck.
