I drove to 51, parked and locked my car, secured my keys in my pocket, and quickly suited up. "Where's the emergency?" I asked Hermann as we got into the truck. He took a deep breath and replied, "Jimmy's apartment. There was an electrical wire short and it caught on fire. Jimmy called us." With uncertainty and fear already overwhelming me, I nodded. We arrived and I quickly hopped out and ran in. "Fire Department! Call out!" I yelled. People were escaping already. It was a frenzy of people. I helped a few people out of the building with help from Severide and two others. It was all a blur. Cruz and I rushed to Jimmy's floor, found his apartment and knocked down the door. "Fire Department! Call out!.....Jimmy! Where are you?!" I yelled. I heard him and rushed to where he was. I found him on the kitchen floor, struggling to breathe. Cruz and I helped him up and I put my mask on Jimmy's face to help him breathe. We got out of there just in time. The fire was halfway out. I helped Jimmy to Ambo 61. "Are you okay?" I asked him as Gabby put an oxygen mask on him and Sylvie starting an IV. He coughed and said, "I will be. Thank you, dear." "No problem, love." I replied as they lifted him into the ambulance. I closed the doors and they took off. Cruz came up to and congratulated me. I laughed and thanked him. I started coughing. "You okay?" Cruz asked. "Just a little bit of smoke." "Let's take you to Med just in case." Cruz suggested. I nodded. I coughed more as Cruz and Hermann helped me into the truck and rushed to the hospital. I felt aggravated.
