"We're what?!..." Jimmy and I exclaimed. The doctor told us that Jimmy and I were going to be parents. "This is amazing!" I replied. I looked at Jimmy and said, "We're going to be great parents!" Jimmy lightly squeezed my hand and said, "We sure are."
Two days later, we were back in Chicago. I knew I had to take it easy the next 6 months. I told Boden and asked him if I could temporarily take over as dispatcher. He approved. That same day and from now on, I answered calls and dispatched emergency vehicles. Four months later, Jimmy and I threw a small gender reveal party in the break room. We popped a big party popper and pink confetti flew out. We all cheered, "It's a girl!" After a few refreshments, we all headed back to work.
That night, at home, Jimmy and I called and told each of our parents....who were ecstatic! After more talking on the phone and hanging up, Jimmy and I talked about a name for the baby. We came up with Sylvia Grace Borrelli.
