6 months and five days later, it was time for Sylvia Grace to enter the world! Jimmy rushed me to the hospital and everything went smoothly. Four hours later, Sylvia Grace Borrelli was born! Six pounds, eleven ounces and perfect!
After an overnight stay, Sylvia Grace and I went home. Two weeks later, it was time for Jimmy and I to go back to work. Jimmy's mother would come over to watch and help take care of Sylvia. We decided against the option to put her in a daycare center when she turned one year old. Jimmy's mother acted as our nanny, but I would come home on breaks and they would visit Jimmy and I at the station.
While I was getting helpful, wise advice from Hermann about raising Sylvia, the alarm went off and we suited up. We arrived at Jimmy and my apartment complex. "Oh no!" I cried out as Hermann and I rushed to the apartment. The door was unlocked. I heard Sylvia crying and followed the sound. Luckily, there was no fire, so we didn't need our masks. We found Sylvia sitting and crying beside Jimmy's mother, who was lying unconscious on the kitchen floor. I radioed for Gabby and Sylvie. Hermann picked up and held Sylvia while I performed CPR on Jimmy's mother until Gabby and Sylvie took over. Hermann handed Sylvia to me and I went back downstairs. Tears were running down my face. Jimmy saw me and asked what happened. "Sylvia is okay, but your mother......had a heart attack." I explained, holding back more tears. Gabby, Sylvie, and Hermann came out of the apartment with Jimmy's mother...lying on the stretcher with an oxygen mask on her face. She was lifted into the ambulance, Jimmy and Hermann closed the doors and off they went. Jimmy and I with Sylvia in tow hopped in the truck and followed the ambulance.
