Chapter 5

Emerald's POV:
We walked for a long ass time I felt like my legs where gonna give out. I looked at Collins and he looked up at the sky.
"Whoa, what the actual fuck?" He pointed to the sky.
We all stopped and looked to where he was pointing. There was a blackish/reddish thing in the sky
"A missile?" Venus tilted her head.
"I think so.." Collins said in worry
"What ever it is it's heading right towards us, we need to get out of here!" Venus said in terror.
I looked at the missile it was headed towards a small war ground.
Venus grabbed my hand and we ran
I was kinda startled that Venus grabbed my hand, I thought he never really cared about me I mean we where friends but this felt different...

Venus' POV:
I grabbed Emerald's hand because, well I didn't really know why. I always felt different around her.. she made me feel like I was the only man in this world, except for Collins... but I did care for her even if she didn't believe it. We ran for maybe 3-5 minutes my legs where getting tired already, I don't get much sleep. I watch over the others just in case and when one of them wake up I pretend to be asleep. We ran but Emerald stopped I tried pulling her but she wouldn't run, she was limping.
"Emmy? You okay?" I said in a panicked manner.
"I think I may have twisted my ankle, dammit.." her eyes started to tear up from the pain.
"Here." I picked her up and kept running, damn she was light, like if she rarely ate.
We ran threw a old town Collins looked behind us to see we where pretty far from the missile, it also didn't seem that big. We saw a underground tornado shelter and decided to get in it just in case.
"Emmy how's the ankle?" I asked her while putting her down gently on the floor.
"It hurts pretty bad.." she responded.
I lifted up her pant leg and took off her shoe. saw that her ankle didn't seem that bad it was just swollen a bit.
"I think you'll be fine." I patted her head, "just don't use it very much, okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, Whatever." She said jokingly.
"Collins can you help me find some ice, if there is any in here?" I asked Collins was the second tallest guy so he could reach the high shelfs, unlike any of the girls.
We saw a small ice chest I knew that there had to be some ice in here.
We found small ice bags and I grabbed one.
I gently put it on emerald's ankle and she jolted a bit from the cold.
"F-Fuck!" She shuddered, "Its cold!" Emerald hated anything that was cold.
"Sorry, but if you want it to get better then you're gonna have to keep the ice on." I smirked, I thought it was funny.
She glared at me
Night had started to fall. We didn't know if they shot the missile down, or what. It was quite no one was talking to each other. So I decided to start one.
"Everyone okay?" I looked around at everyone.
"Yeah I guess." Collins looked down.
Alison, Jac, and Echo all nodded.
"Emmy?" I asked, "are you okay?"
"I think so." She responded in a tired voice.
"Why don't we all get sleep?" Ally suggested.
"I'll stay up, just in case someone comes in." I told everyone.
Collins looked at me like if he was the man of the house.
"No," he told me, "I'll stay up."
Did he want to impress someone? It sure sounded that way.
"You both will stay up, or I will knock the soul out of you." Emerald butted in.
Emerald hit hard she hit me before and left a huge bruise. That's when I knew not to fight with her. I gave Emmy my coat to keep her warm.
"Okay.. fine" I smiled at the tired Emerald.
She fell asleep first.
The other girls found a couple of blankets I gave Emerald one just in case she was still cold.
After the girls fell asleep, Collins sighed.
"Dude," he spoke softly so he wouldn't wake up anyone.
"Yeah?" I looked up.
"Why do you care about Emerald all of a sudden?"
"W-what?" I questioned myself, "I always cared of her, I mean she's important to everyone here, right?"
"She doesn't think that way." Collins looked at me, "She thinks everyone doesn't care about her."
"Well she's wrong." I told him straight-up, "I care about her, Ally cares, Jacqueline cares, Echo cares."
He went silent after that.
He changed the subject.
"What country are we in right now?"
"We started off in California," I told him,
"We've got to be in Nevada or Oregon?"
"There's a map, maybe it will tell us." Collins found a map on a table which it marked where we where at.
"Nevada." Collins made sure.
I nodded, I started to get tired.
"Get some sleep." Collins looked at me.
I took the box that said "UwU" off of my head.
"No, no. I'm fine."
"No you need sleep." Collins glared at me, "go sleep with Emerald she will make you feel comfortable sleeping with her vibe."
I couldn't put down that offer or Collins would probably kill me. I did need sleep but, I didn't want any.
I sat next to Emerald and looked over at Collins still looking at the map.
I laid next to Emerald and put my and on her cheek. She shivered at bit.
I noticed then that her burns where getting better and they where going away. She curled up next to me. I felt so happy. I started closing my eyes and I fell asleep.
We didn't prepare for tomorrow. We didn't know the hell that we where gonna face. That is what really scared me.
