Where did you go...?

"1977 hasn't been going very well," I heard Lily's mother say gloomily.
I was bored so I listened in on their conversation. Most of it was just about the war. We were walking to the local airport. Iran was firing into a war zone and it wasn't safe for us.
"Have you ever been on a plane?" Lily asked me.
I turned to look at her.
"No," I answered blankly, "Have you?"
She laughed quietly. Her laugh made me smile. I looked away. I was kinda embarrassed.
"You're going to love it! We will finally be able to start a famous business together! Like we always wanted." She put her hand on my shoulder, "Don't be sacred. We will be in America the land of the free! We can go see many sites that we've always wanted to see! Like the Statue of Liberty! Oh I've heard it's so beautiful, I even heard that the streets are made of gold there! Gold!"
She jumped around cheerfully. I couldn't help but join her. I heard a sudden loud bang like noise. Lily's mother fell on the the cement. Everyone started to panic.
"MOM!!!" I heard lily scream.
I started to panic. I saw Lily running away. I followed her. She was all I had left. She was like my sister we grew up together. We always wanted to start a huge business together. We dreamt of it.
We must of ran blocks before we stopped. We sat down next to each other in an ally. I saw tears streaming down Lily's face. She curled up into a ball. I started to pat her head. She leaned against me. Her breathing started to turn in a soft snore. A couple hours later she sat up.
"I'm hungry..." she said sleepily, "I'll go find some food or water."
I looked at her. She stared back at me. She smiled softly.
"Don't worry. I'll be back," she said softly.
"Promise?" I asked.
"Promise," she said reassuringly.
I watched her walk away. She looked back and smiled. I forced a smile.
Days passed and she still wasn't back. I was hungry and thirsty. I stood up slowly. My legs were really shaky but I still managed to walk. I walked slowly around town. I saw one of her shoes outside of a different ally. I ran into the ally. I tripped over something and face planted. I pushed my face up. It was covered in a warm, sticky liquid. I was confused until I looked at the rest of my body. My arms and hands were covered in a dark red liquid, my shirt was now a stained to a dark red tint. I jumped back. I was shaking like a leaf. What I saw was horrible. Lily's body parts were scattered everywhere. I had tripped on one of her legs. I saw her head by a box. I got up and slowly walked toward it. Her face looked terrified. I picked up the box next to her head. There was a note under it. It was Lily's handwriting. I set the box on my lap looked at the note. It read:

I thought this box was funny! I know that you like funny things so I thought that I would bring it to you! Hope you like it!
See you soon Venus tell me what America is like ^^ love ya!

I dropped the note. My hand was shaking violently. I picked up the box. I turned it around and saw the symbols "UwU" on it. I giggled. The box was funny. I put the box on my head. It was a little big but it worked. I stood up and walked out of the ally. A couple minutes later I started to feel dizzy. I collapsed and passed out.
When I was found I was only 8 years old I was... alone, cold, thirsty, and hungry. You told me America would be better... I wish you was here with me lily.
