Trisha started lighting up the candles on by one. They had managed to get a hold on some from their hotel rooms. Sarah drew out the planchette board. Cold sweat trickled down her spine as she moved a little forward and they both held hands.
They had seen Youtube videos of these things and in a bunch of horror movies and everything almost always went wrong. Now Trisha did tell herself 'there wouldn't be a story if it didn't go wrong' but considering their tendency of messing up she suspected there was a very high chance that something would go horribly wrong.
Sarah hoped that it would fail altogether and the whole thing would be a bust. But she wasn't too willing to risk messing up and letting a spirit loose to haunt them. She wondered what kind of a spirit a movie actor would be. He was said to have committed suicide so maybe he was depressed or angry, what if the spirit went berserk and tried to harm them.
Trisha was sure as hell not gonna fail at this. Afterall Sharan was the one who had challenged her and she was not going to lose to him. She wasn't really a doer but somehow she had enough ego to keep her driven through this situation.Sarah took a deep breath and started speaking a low ominous voice. "Spirits of the past, move among us. Be guided by the light of this world and visit upon us."
"Is that creepy tone necessary?" Trisha squeaked.
"I don't know. the movies make it look kinda mandatory...
O Aditya Kapoor, we bring you gifts from life into death. Be guided by the light of this world and visit upon us."Neither of them dared to move as she spoke. Trisha had already closed her eyes. Sarah did not dare breathe. She felt a shadow pass over them. It was just a moth hovering around the bulb. 'What have we gotten ourselves into?' she thought. Suddenly the candles began to flicker. They could hear the distant howling of the wolves. Trisha was now clutching Sarah's hands so tight that she thought she would crush it soon enough.
"Ow Trisha! You're hurting me."
Trisha opened her eyes and saw someone walk past the window. Her eyes were wide open and her jaw dropped. Sarah turned around to see what it was when suddenly the bulb switched off. Sarah let out a scream! Trisha joined in. That's when the door started rattling and it was thrown open. They saw a silhouette of a man walking in from the door. His clothes were tattered and steps heavy. Both Trisha and Sarah froze in their spot. They couldn't manage to move a finger. The figure steadily kept advancing towards them.
'This is the end. This is how we go down. Never in our lives have we ever seen through a plan and the first time we do turns out to be our last time.'
'They shut their eyes as tightly as possible and remembered their friends and family."P-please don't h-h-hurt us. We mean no harm. We d-d-don't need answers. Please go back to where you came from. PLEASE!" Trisha somehow managed to speak up.
But the figure simply kept moving closer."Too late!" They heard a hoarse voice.
"It's way too late"
