Was it all worth it? Losing someone close, just to impress another? Erasing all those incredible memories, just to create new ones that may not be so great?

[Mark's P.O.V]

You win some and you lose some. That was the motto I had kept in mind when I thought about everything. Just to get closer to her, I had get rid of the old memories and create new ones.

Courtney Lexington, the most popular girl in school. Every guy wanted to be hers, including me. I mean who would not want to be in a relationship with her. She is the most beautiful girl anyone has ever seen. Her body is amazing. Courtney is the most impeccable person I have ever known. There was one thing... well, person that got in the way of my chances of ever being with Courtney. Obviously I had to do something so I can have my chances with her.

Yes, that person was Y/n. Courtney was not too fond of Y/n and Y/n was not too fond of Courtney. If I had remained friends with Y/n, then my chances would disappear. So, I did what I had to do and unfriended Y/n. I tried to do it in the nicest way possible, but it did not go the way I had planned.

You are probably calling me an idiot right now. I do not blame you. I am an idiot for doing the things I did, but I really love Courtney. I know Y/n would understand. She always does. After that day, I had asked Courtney if she would like to hang out with me sometime, she said yes. Then after a few months, prom was coming up so I asked her to go with me, thankfully she said yes. I honestly could not have been any happier than I am right now.

I am in the mall looking for a prom gift for Courtney, along the way I bumped into Y/n. Bumping into Y/n at the mall has been the very first time in months where I had seen or talked to her. Every time I spoke, she would definitely tense up and I do not know why. Y/n was supposed to help me find a gift for Courtney, but she just ran off.

Now, we are in my car driving back to her house because her mom invited me to dinner. I could not say no to a free meal, plus her mom would not take no for an answer if I had said it. When we got to her house, I helped her with her bags as we walked into her house. It looked the same, slight furniture rearrangements here and there, but overall, it is the same.

"Hi Y/n, it is nice to finally meet you. My name is Min Jiyoo. Your mom has spoken so much of you. This is my son Yoongi." Y/n smiled at the lady as she introduced a boy about the same age as us.

"My name is Min Yoongi. I hope we can be good friends." As I saw his hand reach out, I pulled Y/n back slowly. Her shoulders tensed up within my grasp. Y/n got out of my hands and moved forward.

"Hi, my name is Y/f/n. I am sure that won't be a problem." Y/n laughed and shook his hand. I did not have a good feeling about him.

"Oh, this is Mark. He is my classmate." Classmate? That is the second time she has called me her 'classmate'. It may be true, but whatever happened to best friend or friend?

"Nice to meet you." That Yoongi guy held his hand out. I was not going to shake it, but Y/n nudged me.

"Alright, how about we eat dinner?" Y/n's dad said. Everyone agreed as we all sat at the table.

Y/n and I sat across each other, but that Yoongi dude sat next to her. Throughout the whole time, Y/n and Yoongi had talked and laughed together, leaving me to talk to myself.

"So Y/n, prom is coming up. Have you found a date yet?" Mrs. Min asked.

"I actually do not, but that's okay." She smiled. Y/n did not had a date? Why not?
