We are stars. Every one of us. A fire burns inside us, so strong that it in the end it will destroy us.
We are stars that have lost their twinkle, their light.
We are stars that need to be rekindled, relighted,
We are stars and we have lost our light.***
EXPLANATION
The description above is a metaphor. A metaphor meaning that this book does not necessarily talk about stars. In a literal manner. When I say they're stars, I mean that the personas in my poems all have light in them, meaning that they have potential. In the description, fire is used to replace potential. Potential that can either build or destroy them.
When I say that they're lost stars, I mean that the personas have:
A. Lost their potential and are completely blinded by their desires.
B. Are (slowly) losing their potential and hope.
C. Hang on to the thread of hope.In some way or the other, my personas are confused, lost, blinded ,teary eyed and flawed. Some have given up, others haven't. But all they have in common is their burning or burnt potential.

We have calcium in our bones, iron in our veins,
carbon in our souls, and nitrogen in our brains.
93 percent stardust, with souls made of flames,
we are all just stars that have people names.

To the broken, to the lost, to those who don't know where they belong, to the ever hoping-- even when it does you no good, this is dedicated to you. I hope this serves as an escape from the reality you will inevitably return to.
