We could be happy
But we became unhappy
And then chose to be sadWe chose it;
We chose to have unhappy existences
To lose our light
To burn away our elation
To let the world drag us down
And have us beggingBut perhaps if we chose to thrive in the dark
We can plant smiles on our faces
Ones that aren't faked
That aren't forced
Ones that are alive
Breathtaking
Our hearts could shine
But they don'tWe could be alight with happiness
But we aren'tBut perhaps there's ease in difficulty
Darkness in the light
Happy in the sad
Humour in the worst of our soulsPerhaps there's hope in our lives
And perhaps it's something we can live for
