Narrator's POV
She opens her eyes quickly, tired of pretending to be asleep. Peaking over the other beds and happily noticing they're all breathing steadily, swallowed in their own dreams. Finally.
He seats right up, his white cotton shirt is wet with sweat. His eyes are wide open, eyebrows furrowed as he remembers his nightmare.
She swings her legs out of bed and slips her small feet inside comfy slippers. Her agility as she moves around in the dark is close to unbelievable but that's how it must be done. Open trunk, get the secret bag, close trunk, sneak out, head to the seventh floor under the cloak, relax. That's her plan.
He closes his eyes once again, knowing he won't be able to stay there any longer...He doesn't bother checking who's awake or not, he couldn't care less about them. Or who has seen him move like a shadow through the Slytherin's common room door.
She was faster though. She didn't have to think about what she desperately needed as her arrival on the last floor came upon the redhead, as the thought was stuck in her mind since that day's breakfast, clouding her every move.
A white room, with mirrors reflecting her unknown beauty in every wall. The Room of Requirements was her favorite. There, she could do one of the things she most liked; Dance! It came from years ago. The only one who knew it was her mother when, five years ago, lost in muggle London, accidentally ended up at a classic dance studio.
Ginny thought it was beautiful and couldn't help herself from bringing her only daughter to take a peak. Long story short, it was love at first sight. She took lessons from age 5 to 10 when the practices were getting so long, and the excuses so untrustworthy that the young Potter and her mother had to quit their secret trips.
It was her dearest secret. She liked it that way. And it was time to relieve the stress, no better way than dancing.
Lilly stared at herself in the mirror as she built her chignon. Her bangs obviously had to fall out but she quickly pinned them, just before wrapping a green string around the red bun, shaping it into a bow, with thin agile fingers.
She was still very far away from getting ready. But as she puts on her black leotard on top of her white tights, and wraps the skirt around her tiny waist, she gets closer and closer from starting to dance.
The Black Swan is the only thing in her mind once the pointy shoes are on. She holds onto the bars and imagines the music playing until it is actually booming around the room. She grins and starts.
He, on the other hand, wanders his way to the seventh floor very, very slowly. He likes the night and the solitude. It lets him think.
The only problem was that he'd drown on his own thoughts, trying to stay afloat over the aggressive waters of to'do's, responsibilities and must's. That's why he liked the Room of Requirements, there he could imagine a hammock, birds singing over a green meadow. Or whatever he felt like. The feeling of the complete domain was great.
There he is, finally, and as always, he thinks the phrase that opens the magical doors; "whatever I really need".
The pale skinned, blond haired and blue eyed hot mess expects what he's been receiving for the past years, a peaceful environment. But that night he got something different. He found someone in there. And not anyone.
No, he starred at fierce red hair, freckled skin, and perfect body. She twirled around, exhibiting flexible legs that were shot right into the air, just before concluding (so fast he couldn't count them) pirouettes angelically. Her eyes were closed but she moved around as if there wasn't one inch of the room she couldn't see.
Scorpius lost it then. He wouldn't be able to tell his name even if his life depended on it. He lost the notion of time, he could watch her for days, months, years...Eternity. But then the music stopped. She breathed heavily and came down from the point, finally opening her eyes. She had her back to him, but as Lilly looked at the mirror in front of her, she caught him and covered her mouth with trembling hands. "What...What are you doing here?" she mutters quietly as they face each other. "You...It was...Oh, Merlin Lilly!" it's all he manages to say as approaches her.
Potter, on the other hand, looks down, red cheeks and shoulders almost touching each other as she tries to crawl into her own petite body. "What did you see?" she asks embarrassed. "Everything...You're angelic, you're... I don't know how to describe you" he huskily speaks and her head shoots right up, surprised.
"You... liked it?" Lilly asks, wide-eyed. "If, if I liked it? Bloody hell Lilly!" he spoke and stepped closer. They were only a couple inches apart, "What was that? I've never seen such dance before..." they're breathing fast, racing hearts and intense glares. "It's a muggle thing... Ballet, it's how they call it" she answers, "What are you doing here anyway?" her voice sounds a bit too weak, she's not used to people seeing her like that, mainly not him.
"I couldn't sleep" lie " what about you? Do you come here often?" He asks, " No, I don't" lie "I..." she sighs, not able to continue. "What is it? You can tell me..." he mutters, not for once taking his eyes off of her, "tomorrow...we have the quidditch tests. I'm a bit nervous and dancing calms me down" she says, still looking down. Suddenly Malfoy can't hold himself and chuckles loudly. She looks up and bites her lips, suddenly remembers what she has done. Lilly just broke her own rule, the most important of all; never let people think they're above you.
"What's so funny?" She boldly spits crossin her arms childishly. He smirks, 'oh, how much do I want to scratch that smirk out of that beautiful face!!' She thinks. "Well, well... It's sad to know you have some self-steam issues since you're probably the best chaser since your Mum retired" the pretty boy spoke. Lilly opened her mouth but he interrupted, " nope, not finished yet" then Scorpius breaths, stares at an annoyed Potter and continues, with the smirk still stuck in his lips.
"If you still feel nervous about the tests, perhaps the captain of the team could give you a hand..." he smirked. It took Lilly a while until she understood, and her reaction came alongside with extreme red cheeks, crossed arms and her signature sassy attitude. "If I was you Malfoy I'd enjoy the time you have as captain" she spoke. "And why would that be?" He asked confidently, smirking. "Oh, isn't it obvious?" The Potter girl continued, "once I'm on the team, everyone will see that I'm much better than you and I'll be captain".
"Oh..." Malfoy spoke, he came closer, towering above her petite figure, "I guess this situation asks for a...bet". His face was devilish, there was something behind all that. She knew it, but her Slytherin ambitious blood wouldn't let her turn it down... she'd regret it but before Lilly notices they're shaking hands.
Then, she's back at her bed. He had walked her all the way from the room of requirements until her dorm room, where he winked and waved a goodbye to the redhead.
Now laying in bed, Lilly remembered her bet. "Whoever makes more goals tomorrow at the test wins a wish, of any kind and with no questioning, from the losing opponent", those words came out of the blonde. He had it all planned. He wouldn't risk his reputation, mainly with her being such great player, perhaps even better than him.
He had a card up his sleeve, guaranteeing his victory. McGonagall had informed the captain of the Slytherin team that Ms.Potter would have to attend the quidditch test some other day due to her extra classes days changed at last minute (because she was at the hospital for a couple of months). She also happened to mention that Lilly would be told about it the next morning. It was perfect.
As he laid down in bed trying to fall asleep that same night, he thought about her. He remembered the look on her face when he had told her that she wasn't allowed to attend the any Hogsmeade trips or the Yule ball... But he couldn't change the past. But he sure could change the future...•------------------------------------------------------•------------------------------------------------------
