Tyler

My eyes slowly start to open. My vision is a bit fuzzy. I can't see where I am. Not yet at least. I hear faint voices speaking. Too faint to make out who they are.

I manage to rub my eyes to help my vision. That's when everything becomes real. And I remember what happened. And I realize where I am.

The hospital.

Probably the psych ward knowing you.

Josh probably brought me here after what happened a little while ago. How long was I out?

"Mr. Joseph?" I heard an unfamiliar voice ask. I realized that a nurse was hovering over me.

"Yeah?" I answered back.

"Do you know where you are currently?" She quietly asked.

"The hospital, but how did I get here?" I questioned.

"A man, I believe his name was Joshua Dun. Do you know anyone by that name?"

"Yes! Is he still here?" I hoped he was.

"Yes, Mr. Joseph. He is in the waiting room, but before you see him, I have to ask you a few things," she calmly stated.

"Please make it quick," I begged.

"Okay, do you know why you're here?"

"Because Josh was worried when he heard me yelling."

"Do you remember what you were yelling at?"

"Th... the vo-voices," I stuttered.

"Yes. How long have you had these voices?"

"Uh... since I was about eight-years old," I confessed. "I've never told anyone about them. I didn't think they were very normal and I didn't want people to think I was crazy."

"Mr. Joseph. Our doctors here have diagnosed you with schizophrenia. This is a medical, mental disease that cause voices in your mind to tell you to do things. This makes you feel obligated to do them. It is not your fault you are schizophrenic. We can help you get rid of your voices," she told me.

(A/N: here is the real definition of schizophrenia if that wasn't enough:
"A long-term mental disorder of a type involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion, and behavior, leading to faulty perception, inappropriate actions and feelings, withdrawal from reality and personal relationships into fantasy and delusion, and a sense of mental fragmentation.
(In general use) A mentality or approach characterized by inconsistent or contradictory elements.")

"You, you can get rid of them?" I asked. My whole body felt like something I've never experienced shot right through me. Was this, hope?

You know she's lying. You can't get rid of me. You've tried before.

"Most of the time, yes. It may take a while for you, seeing as you've had schizophrenia for 17 years," when the nurse said this, I couldn't believe it. I've had this voice in my head for almost my whole life. For 17 entire years I've had voices telling me what I should do and how I should feel.

Don't get your hopes up. I'm not planning on leaving anytime soon.

"I need these voices gone. Please, do whatever you can to make sure they go away," I pleaded.

"We will try our absolute hardest for you, Mr. Joseph," she replied.

"Now can I see Josh?" I asked.

Great, you're dragging him into your life full of problems again. He's going to hate you by the end of this.
