"My name's Benedict Cumberbatch and I'm playing Alan Turing," Ben sheepishly gazed up from the script to the people surrounding him. The person next to him spoke, "My name is Y/n L/n and I'm playing Joan Clarke." The rest of the cast introduced themselves and the characters they were to portray.
It was the day of the script reading, the main cast was gathered. Ben and a few others were well known there, they've appeared in other successful movies unlike you. This was your first role, well your most victorious role so far. You've made small appearances in tv series or gotten the few seconds of spotlight on the big screen, but never have you gotten the leading women role.
You were to star beside idols of yours, especially Benedict Cumberbatch. You've never had the pleasure of meeting him until that day. It all seemed surreal with Ben on your right side and Charles Dance on your left.
Before sitting down, Ben took a few of his minutes to talk with you. "Congrats on this! Believe me, it won't be easy the first few weeks, the heavy hours, the restless nights, but it'll all pay off. Once you see yourself on that screen and speaking the words never spoken is.. magical," he rubbed your arm. You eagerly, inwardly sighed, "Thank you, I still can't believe it myself."
He understood your euphoria, the adrenaline surging through your veins to get everything started. The director called for everyone. Ben gave you a compassionate smile and lead you to the lengthy table. You felt welcomed, by him and everyone else.
The tedious hours of reading the script passed. During breaks, Ben and you got a cup of coffee and talked endlessly of how his and your career sprouted and grew. By the end of the week you felt you knew him for years.
**
The weeks that came along were tiresome, just as Ben warned. The makeup crew expertly hid the bags under your eyes in every scene filmed. Ben would share his coffee with you, that usually bolted you awake.
You were in your trailer, Ben rubbing your calf to wake your sleeping form. "Y/n, pst, Y/n," he chanted. Your eyes gradually opened, "What?" "We've got to film that scene at the pub, last scene of the day," he kept his voice low to prevent the initiation of a possible headache. You licked your dry lips and rested your limp body on your forearm.
Your hair was a messy, the crew would take care of that. Ben couldn't help but chuckle at your state, "C'mon, they've actually let us drink some lager since it's the last scene of today." That got you to sit up, Ben smirked at you.
He stood up from the bed and helped you get up. Your leg muscles were still flimsy, causing you to support yourself on his arms once standing up. He looked down as you rose your head. There was a moment of silence, his green, blue eyes adoringly pierced through your e/c ones.
His lips were a few centimetres away, you hitched your breathe at the thought of your lips on his. He placed his hand on your bottom back. You nervously nipped the inward corner of your mouth. A knock on the door startled both of you, breaking the blissful moment. "Mr. Cumberbatch, Ms. L/n, they need you on set in 5," it was one of the crew members.
Benedict intertwined his fingers with yours and opened the door to your trailer. "Thanks," he directed to the crew member. He still had his hand on yours, "Let's get your hair fixed." You sheepishly giggled.
The beauty department were gods, they did everything so eloquently and with a precision manner. In no time you were by Ben's side dancing to music as the camera filmed the both of you. Your hand was on his and the other over his shoulder.
He had to keep a fair distance from your body while dancing due to his character, he wanted nothing but to pull you close to his body. The director finalised the scene and yelled cut for everyone. The day was over. The rest of the members moved from their positions but you and Ben stayed the same.
