Maxine's POV
I am just now getting home and James walked me up to my
"I had fun tonight" I said and he smiled
"Well good, fun enough time to maybe go on a second date?" He asked and I smiled and nodded
"Yeah I'd like that" I said and he smiled
"Great and by the way, I heard your birthday is coming up" he said and I nodded
"Yeah, it is" I answered and he nodded
"Awesome, well I'll let you go inside before your parents go crazy" he said and I laughed
"Alright but seriously, I had fun tonight so thank you, even though I could've paid for my own dinner" I said and he shook his head
"Make you pay for your own dinner? What kind of date do you think I am?" He said and I laughed
"Well I'll see you later" he said as he pulled me into a hug and I hugged him back and he pulled away and started walking to his car and I walked into my house and went straight to my room, I'm only the one with my own room, perks of being the oldest, but I just changed into my PJs and I heard a light knock on my door
"Come in" I said and I seen it was my mom
"Hey" I said as I sit on my and she smiled and sit next to me
"How was your date?" She asked and I smiled
"It was fun actually, were going on another date here soon" I said and she smiled
"That's great" she said and I nodded
"I actually think I'm starting to like him" I admitted and she smiled
"Now why's that?" She said and I spoked up
"Well he's cute, he's funny, very genuine, but the thing that really gets me, the fact that he is trying so hard just to impress me you know? He just seem so interested in everything I had to say, I've never had anyone do that for me before" I said and she smiled
"You know that's actually good, but you need to remember, you're still young, so if it doesn't work out, please know that its okay" she said and I nodded
"Alright" I said and I got curious
"So, what made you realize that you liked dad?" I asked and my mom looked at me and took a breath
"I remember your dad and I went and hung out with Sammy, troy and them and we were just walking downtown and I remember spilling everything to him that night because i wasnt feeling myself and he did everything he could to make me feel better" she said and I spoked up
"Was that your first date?" I asked and she shook her head
"No, our first date he actually took me and taught me ballroom dancing" She said and I looked at her
"Seriously?" I asked and she nodded
"Yes still one of my favorite dates ever" she said and I smiled
"We even had our first kiss that night" she said and I looked at her
"Really?" I asked and she nodded
"He left and came back and knocked on my door and pulled me out and kissed me" she said and I smiled
"That's actually really cute" I said and she smiled
"Yeah, and we've been married for almost 20 years and he still gives me butterflies" she said and spoked
"You're gonna have your moments one day I promise" she said as she hugged me, I love how my mom is telling me this, it just made me realize that I want a relationship like her and my dad one day
