I paced around the camp anxiously as we awaited Alexander's arrival.

What would I say to him? How is he going to act towards me? Would his return make things awkward between us?

It was stressing me out much more than it should have. Shouldn't I be happy he's coming back to camp?

I sighed as I turned on my heel to go find John and Lafayette.

Though, Alexander was not the only one coming back to camp. Hercules was, as well. Which I was extremely excited about, it's been what felt like forever since I last saw him.

As I walked up next to John I noticed the carriage that was approaching us. I bit my lip as I tried to think of something to say to him.

'I missed you,' no maybe not. That is extremely to forward, or maybe it isn't?

'Welcome back,' well it is not very exciting but I suppose it will do.

The carriage came to a stop, I straightened my back as the door opened and Alexander jumped out; smiling like an idiot.

He approached John and Lafayette at first, giving them the 'manly side hug,' which I did not understand. Then he turned to me, he smiled then rushed over and pulled me into a hug.

I hugged back, still a tad bit shocked at this action.

"I missed you, [Your Name]." He whispered into my ear.

I felt my cheeks heat up, unable to speak. He pulled away and gave me his signature smile.

I cleared my throat and returned the smile, except mine was much more awkward.

"I missed you, too, Alexander." I told him then mentally shunned myself.

Too forward! Don't let him think you have feelings for him, now isn't the time for that!

Maybe it is the time for this, let him know you have feelings for him before he finds someone else!

I always felt as if my heart and brain would fight when I was around him, but I could not help it.

"[Your Name]?" Alex asked.

Back to reality, I suppose.

"Oh, I am sorry. Not in my right mind set today." I told him, which did have truth behind it.

He raised his eyebrow at me before responding, "I see, anyways, how is your arm doing?"

"It is much better now, which I'm extremely thankful for." I answered.

He gestured me to follow him, "Come with me to the tent to drop off something, would you?" He asked, to which I nodded in reply.

As we walked side by side towards the tent, I was silent. Some men welcoming Alexander back, others glaring at him.

Aaron Burr strutted up to us and gave Alexander a smile, "Welcome back, Hamilton. I suppose you are happy to have returned, no?" He asked.

"Very," Alexander responded as he glanced towards me then back to Aaron.

Aaron then took notice of my presence and asked, "Ah, [Your Name], I never see you around camp anymore. How is your arm?"

I shrugged and smiled reluctantly, "It is getting there, I suppose."

He nodded towards me then looked back to Alexander. "Well it's good to have you back Hamilton, I'll see you two around." He said, giving a slight wave then walking away.

Alexander gritted his teeth before taking a deep breath as we continued walking.

"Are you alright?" I asked, taking notice of the sudden change in his mood.

We stopped in front of the tent, Alexander turning to me and whispering "I just have a bad feeling about him."

He put the bag he was carrying in the tent as I tried to make sense of what he had said, "How come? Aaron is a very nice man, from what I know." I responded.

"It's not that, I feel as if he has something against me." He answered before turning around and walking towards the woods.

"Where are you going?" I shouted out to him, he looked over his shoulder and smiled.

"Would you like to find out?" He hollered back.

I didn't even respond as I jogged up next to Alexander and looked at him questionably.

"I know I am handsome, but there's no need to stare, love." He said, smirking at me.

I quickly turned my head trying to hide my face, "Pfft, you'd love for me to think that, wouldn't you?" I responded.

He stopped and gently grabbed my wrist pulling me close to him, "I don't have to think, I know. But it is fine, because I think you are quite beautiful."

My face flushed as I pulled away from him forcing an awkward laugh, "You truly are ridiculous, Alexander."

He sighed and shook his head at me, "I am only showing how I feel, [Your Name], I wished you'd do the same." He responded, a serious tone in his voice.

"Even if I did have feelings for you, Alexander,  it is not the time." I told him, honestly.

"Perhaps not now, but after all of this is over." He said, staring into my eyes.

"You can't say that, we don't know if we'll both come out of this alive. Fate doesn't always work in your favor, you know?" I responded.

He sighed before responding, "You are so negative."

"Not true!" I snapped.

"Then prove it!" He said, excitement showing upon his features.

I thought for a second, trying to figure out something to do. But then, Alexander cupped my face in his hands and gently kissed me.

I was surprised at first, but quickly melted into his embrace. He smiled into the kiss then pulled away and smirked at me.

"If I was so negative, I would not have returned the favor." I said as I turned on my heels and started back towards camp.

".. Wait, don't leave..!" He shouted as I walked further away from him, trying to get my emotions back in check.

I looked over my shoulder responding, "Too late, I've already walked this far and I'm not turning back!"

I looked forward and shook my head.

What in the world did I just get myself into?

What can I say except you're welcome? (Pun intended)
