A day had passed since my injury. I had slept the whole day yesterday due to my boredom.
Today was the day that Hercules was leaving. Honestly, out of all of us, I was taking it the hardest. In the little time I had known these idiots I have grown attached to them.
The thought of any of them getting hurt or injured worried me. Frankly, I'm thankful it was me that got shot rather than Laf, Hercules, John, or Alexander.
They did play much more important roles than I did, which I didn't mind too much. I'm satisfied with the part I play in the Revolution.
"How are you doing, [Your Name]?" Asked Hercules whom walked through the tent towards my bed.
I gave him a forced smile, "Worried and bored."
He sat on the side of the bed as he responded, "I've already told you not to worry."
"I cannot help it, I just can't imagine what I would do if you or the others got hurt." I told him.
"Now, now, don't get all emotional on me." Hercules joked, "Believe me, if you cry I'll cry, too."
I laughed lightly, "Shouldn't you be out drinking with the boys?"
"Without you?" He laughed, "Pfft, Alexander is against that. We've already tried—" he paused for a moment, "Not that we would drink without you anyways..!"
"Is that so?" I said raising my eyebrows.
"Are you talking about Alexander being against us drinking without you or are you talking about how we'd dri—NOT drink— without you?" He questioned and cleared his throat.
"I was talking about you guys drinking without me." I said and gave a dramatic stare.
He simply shrugged and gave a crooked smile, "What can I say, a man loves his alcohol."
I laughed at him before adding, "as do I, but seriously, Alexander?"
He nodded, "I can't tell which one of you is more in love with the other."
My cheeks flushed, "That is a joke, right?" I said with little hope in my voice.
"If it makes you feel better, sure." He said and stood from the bedside. "I'm going around camp to say my goodbyes, but I'll be back to see you before I leave."
I nodded and gave a soft smile as I watched him walk out the tent. I soon heard chatter, Alexander then walking in right after Hercules had left.
"Are you feeling any better?" He asked as he sat in the chair next to my bed.
"I'm not, both mentally and physically." I told him honestly.
He nodded in understanding.
"You should be out in the camp, not wasting your time with me." I told him, a serious tone filling my voice.
It was not like I was going anywhere anytime soon, plus he should have much better things to do.
"Well I'm taking a break before I go back to Washington's tent to write again, so these visits to come see you are my break." He told me.
Who knew "The" Alexander Hamilton would take a break? To see me of all things.
"I'm worried sick about Hercules and he hasn't even left yet." I said as reality set in again.
Alex sighed, "I am as well, but he can handle it." He said and gave a reassuring smile.
I returned a smile, though mine was much weaker and slightly forced.
"You shouldn't be worrying too much, it's not good for you." Said Alexander.
"I suppose you are right, but it's the one thing keeping my mind busy at the moment. I'm so sick of this damned tent." I responded.
"You've only been in here for what, two and a half days? You've got at least a week or two before you can even think to go back to normal." He jokingly said.
I sighed, frustrated. "Once I'm free to go we are going to the bar, I am desperately in need of alcohol."
He laughed and was about to answer when Hercules, John, and Lafayette came barging into the tent.
"Sorry to interrupt you lovebirds, but I want to say bye before I leave." Hercules said, I felt my heart ache a little as I thought.
Bye.
Such a small word but it can really have an impact.
I sat up in my bed, now actually clothed this time. "How about we call it 'see you soon'? Bye just doesn't feel right." I suggested to which he shrugged.
"I must agree with that." Added Alexander, to which Laf and John nodded.
"I wish this wasn't so hard, I'm not good with sentimental stuff." Hercules said.
John cleared his throat, "When it comes to ladies you seem quite good though."
Hercules rolled his eyes before giving a nod, "I'm taking that as a compliment."
"When will you be back?" Lafayette asked.
"Not sure, I suppose whenever the war is over or near then..-" He looked as if he was going to add on something but then looked at me and gave a crooked smile, "Just know that I'll be back."
I hoped he meant that, I knew he couldn't keep any promises but there can always be hope.
I gave a shaky breath and laughed slightly as my eyes watered up, "I haven't known any of you long, but I'm so attached it's pathetic."
"I would not call that pathetic," Remarked Alexander.
"Nor would I, we've taken quite the liking to you." John said then shifted his eyes over to Alexander, "Some more than others."
Alexander's cheeks tinted pink as I laughed lightly, trying to hide my own flustered cheeks.
"I should be going soon." Hercules interrupted.
"Not without giving me a goodbye hug you aren't." I said then remembered my arm, "Well, side hug."
He came over and hugged me gently, acting as if he were afraid that if he squeezed to hard I'd shatter to pieces. I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, and forced a smile.
"See that Alexander?" Hercules said and pointed to his cheek and stuck out his tongue mockingly.
"Ha-ha." Alexander said sarcastically.
We all laughed before settling down and saying some farewells to Hercules. Alexander and the others walked him out to the carriage whilst I sat in bed wanting to get up.
Everything can change is such a quick time, it feels just like yesterday that I had met the idiots I call my friends.
