Fate. Some of us embrace it while others run and try to change it. I'm apart of the percentage of the others. I refuse to accept my fate. Because how it looks now Aiden is apart of my fate. I mean what are the odds? Us moving apart and ten years later he ends up running my law firm? Both of us In the same state, d I will have to come to accept it, but right now I won't. Or well at least I'll try not to.
I push Aiden away from me. He has a dazed look on his eyes as he stares at me. My heart is beating out of my chest as I look into his eyes. Neither of us say anything, we stay silent just watching each other.
"This cannot happen." I say denying what just happened.
"Alison." He says my name. I shake my head and turn around, wanting to leave.
"Alison stop running." He grabs my hand and holds it gently. I freeze before my eyes fall to our hands. My breathe hitches as I feel tingles.
"I want to deny it to but don't you think that this could be fate?" He says quietly. I can feel his eyes on me but I keep looking at our hands. Why haven't I pulled away yet?
"No it's just a coincidence." I mutter.
"Will you shut that mouth of yours for once and just listen." Aiden says. His voice raises slightly, just a little.
"We are both hurt from the past but come on it's been nine years. Almost ten for gods sake," Aiden continues. I still haven't looked up, "Let's start new. I tried to tell myself I've moved on but you do something to me. Every time I try to walk away you pull me back in." Aiden explains to me. I sort of want to scoff but I also want to pull him close and kiss him. My mind is bipolar.
"Ali, I want to be with you." Aiden's fingers rest under my chin and he lifts my head up so that our eyes finally meet. I notice he used my old nickname from him. I know he noticed to.
"I miss calling you that also. I miss a lot a things about you Alison." My mind is telling me to speak but my heart is saying the opposite. Finally I gather the courage to open my mouth.
"Honestly Aiden even if we tried it wouldn't work." I mutter. He rolls his eyes and squeezes my hand.
"Please Ali." He begs me. I don't think I would have ever seen Aiden begging for a girl.
"I don't know." My head falls in defeat, I know what I'm about to say and it's going to kill me.
"If you can convince me you really want us together, then maybe I'll give it ago." I tell him; looking up to see a grin growing on his stupidly hot face. All in less then five seconds he throws his arms around me and pulls me into him. Our bodies clash together as he holds me close, pressing his lips to mine again.
Soon enough we snap out of the little trance we are in, "We can go out but not as a couple. Not until we are officially together." I tell Aiden how this will work, "If that ever happens." I add.
"Yeah ok. That sounds good." He says happily.
"I bet that I Can make you fall for me again, and I can show you how much I care for you." Aiden tells me, still holding my hands in his.
~~~Next Day~~~
Waking up, my mind wonders to last night. I was stupid to even kiss Aiden back. I don't know why I said what I did. Maybe I had a little to much wine, or maybe I'm finally listening to my heart.
"Gosh." I groan thinking about what is going to take place these next few weeks, or however long it takes before Aiden gives up. I'm not going to fall for him again. There's no way in hell.
I swing my feet off the side of my bed and stand up. I take a quick shower before returning to my closet.
After I'm dressed I braid my hair back and apply some lip gloss. I find Paisley and Fallon waiting in the kitchen for their breakfast. I grab there dog food out of the pantry and pour some into their bowls. Once I'm done I open the fridge and grab a yogurt cup.
I grab my keys and phone before heading to work.
"Any messages for me, Nikki?" I ask her as I walk past her small cubicle. She clicks her tongue and checks her notepad.
"Yes, Keaton Wilson needed to reschedule your meeting." She informs me.
"Alright. Did he give another time he is available?" I ask needing to know so I can go ahead and schedule it.
"He said he is free next Wednesday at 11:30am." Nikki reads from her notepad.
I nod, "Alright, I'll check my schedule." I walk past her and into my office. I leave the door slightly open and walk to my desk. Looking through my calendar I see I am indeed free that day.
"Nikki can you schedule that meeting with Mr. Wilson." Nikki responds with "yes ma'am." Her behavior has improved since I put her in her place. I'm glad too, because I don't want someone like her working in this law firm. Though she has been acting appropriately recently so she still has time to change my mind about her. She hasn't been dressing so slutty either.
"Morning Ms. Kane." Aiden's voice echoes through the room. I jump slightly, his voice scaring me.
"I brought bagels!" He smiles as he walks forwards, sitting in front of my desk. My eyebrow raises slightly, what is with people bringing me bagels? He opens the bag and sits one in front of me. Along with coffee. I open the wrapper and smell cinnamon and see cream cheese on the bagel, My favorite.
"Your favorite right." Aiden's eyes brighten and he shoots me a smirk. He remembers.
