You can't always run from your problems. That thought runs through my mind for the tenth time tonight. I don't always run from my problems. Do I? My head pounds, tired of thinking. I rub my temples in a manner to soothe my headache.
I had got home about forty-five minutes ago. I had changed into something comfortable and climbed into bed. Now here I am snuggled up with my dogs under the covers. My head thumps again. I take a couple breathes. I need a walk.
I climb out of my huge bed, and of course my dogs follow. I go to my closet and grab a hoodie to pull over my small tank top. I slide it over my head and it falls loose around my waist. I pick up my bearpaw boots, and slide them on. And tie my hair up into a bun.
On the way out of my room. My eye catches a glimpse of my moms necklace. The one I wore everyday in high school. It is laying on my dresser in a glass jewelry box. It glistens under my lightbulb. I sigh and flip my light switch so that that room is pitch black. I walk into the hall, where my dogs are waiting for me.
"Wanna go for a walk?" I ask them in a happy voice. They wag their tails and bolt down the stairs. I giggle at them and jog down the stairs. I grab my keys off the table by the door. I swing open my front door and lock it. My dogs rush past me eager to get outside. I close the door and step outside. Tucking my keys into my hoodie pocket.
I walk through my yard as my dogs around around and play with each other. I walk out to the street and onto the sidewalk. I motion for my dogs to come on and they follow. I can keep them off their leashes because they no not to run away, plus they were trained when they were puppies.
We walk along the sidewalk for a while. Just cruising down my street. All my neighbors must be in bed because their lights are off. A cool breeze hits me as I walk. It feels good out here. I stay for another fifteen minutes, before deciding to go home.
Once I am back home I head up stairs and climb into bed. My dogs follow and they hog the bed.
~~Dream~~
"I love you Ali." Aiden whispers as he trails kisses up and down my neck."I love you too Aiden." I say back. Though I watch this from someone else's point of view. No wait it is my point of view. I watch as Aiden plants a kiss on the younger me. Was this back in high school?
"I'm sorry about the Bet." Aiden mumbles against the younger me's neck. Wait huh? This never happened in real life. What the hell is going on.
"I told you it's okay, as long as you love me for real. The stupid bet doesn't matter." The young me replies. I shake my head. No it does matter. What is this?
"Well I do love you for real, And I will love you for as long as I live. I don't care if we break up or if we move millions of miles away from each other. I will still love you." Aiden replies. My heart hurts watching this. Part of me wishes he would have said that nine years ago. The other part of me wishes I will just wake up from this awful dream. I turn away not wanting to watch this anymore.
~~Dream over~~I wake up sweating. I sit up with deep breaths. I take a moment trying to calm down. I look at my clock and see it is five am. I breathe heavily as I climb out of bed. That dream was.. I don't know what it was. I open my bathroom door and turn in my shower light. I turn my shower on and take off my clothes. I step into the shower, which was much needed. I stay in there for thirty minutes before stepping out. I wrap my towel around my body and walk back to my room. My wet hair clings to my neck as I rummage through my closet.
I pull out a red dress and some heels. I get dressed and then move onto my hair and makeup. I curl my hair and put on some faint red lipstick. Once I am done I head down stairs. I check my clock and see it is six am.
I pull out some yogurt from my fridge, and some strawberries. I eat that for breakfast. After I feed my dogs and grab my keys to head to work. As I arrive at my office I see Nikki is not here yet.
"Alison, can you step into my office for a moment?" Aiden asks me as I walk past his. I sigh and back up. I step inside his door and cross my arms. As I look at him I think about my dream last night.
"Yes?" I ask him. Curious to know why he called me in here. I hope it isn't about last night because all I want to do is forget about it. I stand beside his door awkwardly, waiting for him to reply. I hope I'm not in trouble for lying
He clears his throat before speaking, "My cousin is coming in for a visit, and I was wondering if you knew a great place to get lunch." Aiden says as he leans back in his office chair. That is what he wanted me for? To tell him where to eat lunch?
"I haven't seen her in such a long time, and I'd like to meet up somewhere nice." He adds. I nod.
"Okay well I'm not your assistant." I say partially annoyed that, that is the reason to why he called me in here. I have cases to review and clients to meet.
"No, you aren't my assistant but I am your boss." He replies gruffly. I hold back an eye roll. Gosh he makes me so aggravated.
"Well then, shall we discuss where you should eat lunch then?" I put on a fake smile. He smirks as I approach his desk. My mind wonders who his cousin is...
