I was instructed to go outside the doors of the Greal Hall with the first years until it was time to be sorted. Standing up on the stage and looking out into the crowd, I was amazed at how many people there were crowded into one room. One by one, the first years got sorted.
"HUFFLEPUFF!!"
"GRYFFINDOR!!!!"
"RAVENCLAW!!!"
"SLYTHERIN!!!"
Finally, the woman called Minnie called out, "We have a second year girl joining us this school year. Juniper, Amy!"
I took a deep breath and walked up to the stool, legs shaking. I placed the hat on my head and it fell over my entire face! The students giggled and I pushed it back so I could see. Suddenly, I heard an old, gravelly voice that seemed to be coming from the hat!
" Let's see here... ah yes, Amelie Juniper. Yes, yes, very peculiar indeed... hm, I wonder....Very smart, I see, and immensely skilled at Occulmency...
Brave, and very loyal...I think I know just where to put YOU, Ms. Amy!"
"HUFFLEPUFF!!!!!!"
The table to the far left broke out into cheers and applause. They waved me over, and I was bombarded with hugs and greetings. I just smiled and hoped no one would try to talk to me yet. It would be easier to explain to one person first and ask them to tell the others.
