Chapter 4- Mike's Chapter

Long Time No See

15th September 2013

Dear Journal,

After years of.

I have return back to.

It all started when.

I really don’t know what I am thinking, let alone writing it in black and white. After years of living with Aunt Julia in Hilton Head, I am back in Court Cove. All I seem to feel is… and that is where I get stuck I don’t know what I feel about this situation. I thought I would feel angry, depress or even a little bit of pain to be back here, but I think I am just numb. Numb that’s it, I think. The only way to stop the pain or ache of this place is just to block it out. Seems logical I suppose. I mean I have been in therapy for over 2 years now I think I know how to analysis behaviour.

I guess I should be wondering what is going to happen this week, new school (sort of), new friends (sort of), new therapy sessions (the highlight of my week). It’s going to be a very weird week to say the least.

“Mike!” Aunt Julia called from downstairs “Are you up yet?”

“Yeah!” Mike replied, putting his journal to the side and gathering the energy to get out of his bed. After making his way down stairs and into the kitchen, Aunt Julia greeted him with a banquet of breakfast food. From every type of ways you can prepare an egg, to an overly extensive selection of cereals, even giving a choice of which milk to use. All laid out on the kitchen’s island bench.

“Ready for the day?” Aunt Julia smiled as she hanged her plain black apron on the kitchen hook.

“Sure” Mike croaked giving a fake smile and nodded her way.

“Great! So have whatever you like on the table,” she gestured as she put away the last of the pans and pots into their correct positions. “And since Andrew is already taking Harry to day-care on his way to work, all I need to do is get change and make sure you are ready for school. Are you ready for school?” she asked giving a concern facial expression to Mike. He replied in just a simple nod and watched as Aunt Julia exited the room.

Julia Mace is Paul Mace’s younger sister, after the fire she was the only living relative left for Mike to go to, since Megan was an only child and all Mike’s grandparents have all passed away. Aunt Julia is in to her early to mid thirties and has a five-year-old son named Harry with her faithful husband of six years now Andrew Howlmore. (Julia deicide to kept her last name.)

Mike didn’t really have an appetite this morning, but felt rude not to eat anything so he sat on one of the black top island’s stool and made up a small bowl of fruit salad with yoghurt on the side. He looked around the kitchen for the first time since he’d moved in. They moved in to the new house late Saturday night and spent the next day slowly unpacking. Mike’s room is still filled with half-emptied boxers in his wardrobe. The kitchen was a modern white kitchen, with silver kitchen appliances and a light gray coat of paint round the room with wooden floors.

Aunt Julia returned in a gray pants suit, grabbed an apple form the nearby fruit bowl and said. “I have to leave soon to get my badge and equipment,” (meaning gun) “and will probably be home late tonight, so make sure you get home from school okay. Andrew and Harry will be home by the time you come back.” She kissed Mike on the forehead “Have a great day.” She waved goodbye and walked toward the garage.
