Chapter 8- Anthony's Chapter
A Family Reunion
“Anthony, Anthony!” a twelve-year-old Millie called from behind, pedaling on her pink BMX bike. “Mum said you have to look after me while she’s out and Dad is at work.” she announced. A thirteen-year-old Anthony rolled his eyes.
“Why can’t you take care of yourself?” He whined as she reached him now out of breath.
“I don’t know,” she puffed out. “It is what Mum just told me.” And the two rode their bike down Jewel Street side by side.
“Hey Anthony.” Millie perked up after a few minutes of silent riding.
“What Millie?”
“Where are we going?” she asked.
“Nowhere, I’m just going for a ride.” He replied.
“Can we go to the park on top of Mount Terry?” Millie asked. “The turn off is right over there.” Pointing down Harley Road.
“Whatever.” Anthony shrugged and they turned down to reach the bottom of the hill.
It took them a while before they reached the top of Mount Terry but as soon did, Millie raced off to grab the only seat on swings that isn’t made for two year olds.
“Ha-ha.” She mocked poking her tongue out and began to rock back and forward on the swing.
“Whatever.” Anthony said again not bothered by the lost of a swing. Millie continued to swing higher and higher.
“What’s the matter with you today? You seem so depress and bored.” Millie noted.
“Shut up.” He snapped at her causing Millie’s face to drop and the two entered awkward silence. It wasn’t long before Anthony notice Mike, Mason and Nate emerge from the woods riding on their bikes. Anthony quickly jumped on his bike and pedal towards his friends, Millie managed to be only seconds behind him when he reached his friends.
“Hey guys.” Anthony greeted and parked his bike perfectly in front of them.
“Hey Anthony.” All of them greeted together.
“What are you doing here?” Mason asked. Anthony just rolled his eyes and nudged his elbow towards his sister’s direction. Mason nodded in understanding.
“Why were you guys in the woods?” Millie piped up to the boys.
“Stopped being nosey.” Anthony snapped to her. Although nobody told him, Anthony knew that the boys were at their cabin but they promised each other not to tell anyone about it, as it is there cabin and nobody else’s.
“I wasn’t being nosey.” Millie protested crossing her arms in anger. “I was just asking.” Anthony ignored her comment and moved on.
“What are you guys going to do now?” He asked.
“We’re about to go down to Lily’s Dairy and grab some food.” Nate replied. “You can come if you want.” He offered.
“Sure there’s nothing else to do.” Anthony accepted.
