Chapter 7-Mike's Chapter

Meeting The New Doctor

“Dr. Winston will see you in a few minutes, Mr. Mace.” The receptionist said. “Please sit in our waiting room until I call your name.” she almost sound like she was robotic. Mike sat at a nearby chair next to some forty-year-old man biting his nails.

Must have anxiety Mike thought as in the corner of his eye, Mike could see blood dripping off a finger the man bite earlier as he walked into the reception. Mike wasn’t worried himself since this isn’t the first time he had a first therapy session with a new doctor. He knows how this is going to go, their is either going to be a couch to lie down on or a chair then an old guy asking him questions about how he is handing everything. Most of the time he is just watching the therapists taking notes on him for the hour-long sessions.

Aunt Julia told Mike to hurry out of class and to met her at the front of the school ‘ASAP’ in order for her to be able to drive to this building during her afternoon lunch break, at breakfast earlier today. Aunt Julia never trust Mike anymore to get to his therapy sessions after he ditched a whole month of them back in Hilton Head. When Aunt Julia found out she was furious, she never trusted Mike again to go on his own to the sessions and drove him to ever single one after that.

“Mace, Mike Mace.” The receptionist called. Mike walked up as she pointed down the left corridor “room three.” She directed and Mike walked off. Mike entered into the room marked three on the door, the room was all painted white with matching carpet. It had a big arch window that looks out on the central backyard. Mike walked towards the window for a closer look. The green grass glowed surrounding a massive fountain that squirted clear water high into the sky and plunge down onto the water below.

“Beautiful view isn’t it.” A man from behind spoke. Mike jumped, as he didn’t realize someone had walked in the room. “Sorry” he apologized. “I didn’t mean to startle you.” He studied the man who was walking closer to him. He had a British accent and he looked as if he was in his mid twenty. His eyes were blue with just a hint of green flicking in them, dark brown hair that curled only at the tip of the ends. He was only a foot or something taller than Mike was, but his beard was what distinctly made him look much older than if he had none. “You must me Mr. Mace right?” He put out is hand. Mike cleared his throat.

“Are you Mr. Winston?” Mike asked giving the man a firm handshake.

“Yes I am, but you can call me Graham if you like.” He offered. Mike nodded and the two looked out through the window.

“You know I have never seen anyone actually gone up to that fountain.” Graham pondered, “Well apart from me of course since that is were I usually go to eat my lunch.” Mike was put off guard from Graham’s first impression. Typically it is just the therapist talking about ‘how are you?’

“Do you want me to sit down, Graham?” Mike asked looking back at the emptied white couch and chair behind them.

“If you want.” He replied making his way to the chair. Mike lay down on the couch, which was incredibly uncomfortable.

“Sorry about that, I am getting in a new couch this weekend.” He said recognizing Mike’s discomfort. “Every time I lay in that one my neck always seem to get a cramp.” Mike instantly sat up not wanting to get out of this session with an aching back or something.
