Chapter 6-Nate's Chapter

I Will Always Remember

The summer between fifth and sixth grade started off great for Nate. His brother and sister, Stanley and Jamie, where at his grandmother’s house for the first month of the holidays, Lindsey Martin, Mrs. Martin, was a flight attendant and Jeff Martin, Mr. Martin, was a CEO of a major business that Nate always forgets the name of. Their jobs always lead to early morning depart and late night returns. Leaving Nate alone to do what he wants without anyone telling him what to do.

On the third Monday of the holidays, Nate and Mason were hanging out at Mason’s house in his room. Mason’s parents were also at their jobs so it was just the two of them and Dan in the house. Dan was in his room studying and hasn’t come out of his room unless to complain if the two were making any loud noises.

“Just turn down the music.” He commanded to the boys “I need to finish my work and I need you two to respect that.”

“Fine Dan.” Mason grumbled rolling his eyes, then turn down the music that was coming out of his laptop.

“Thank you.” He acknowledged and slammed the door behind him.

“God Mason, your brother even more anal than you are,” Nate whispered so Dan wouldn’t hear as his footsteps drift further and further away.

“Tell me about.” Mason agreed. “It’s even worst when Chelsea is with him.”

“How can it get any worst?” Nate asked.

“Exactly but, they find a way. Trust me.” Mason answered raising an eyebrow. The two laughed at Mason’s misery. “You’re so lucky you don’t have any older siblings.”

“Mike doesn’t seem to complain.” He pointed out.

“That’s because his sister actual is normal. My brother is like a machine with no real emotion.” He complained

“You’re so dramatic.” Nate said rolling on to his back while lying on Mason’s bed.

“He is more dramatic than I am.” Mason mumbled to himself.

“Lets not let today be a therapy session Mason.” Nate moved on wanting to change the subject. “What are we going to do today?”

“I don’t know, your call.”

“When do Mike and Little Ant come back?” he asked rolling over to Mason’s laptop to change the song. “By the way you have terrible taste in music. I mean you have a song that label relaxing that plays for nearly three hours.”

“You only say that because your music is only judged by the top fifty songs on iTunes.” He argued. “Besides that music actual helps me.”

“Yes of course since your life is so stressful, of course.” He said sarcastically even though in many ways that statement was true. “Anyway when are they coming back?” he asked again.

“I think Anthony is Friday and Mike’s Sunday.”

“Lucky bastards.” Nate laughed.

“It’s not that long Nate and Anthony will be back all this new stuff we can steal off him.” He joked.
