Chapter Twenty

There's a rumble under my head, a soft chuckle echoing off the walls as I curl up closer to the heater under me, trying to fight waking up. A moment later, when I'm about to fall back asleep, a loud group of laughter makes me snap open my eyes and groan softly leaving my lips.

"Guys, be quiet. Dani's sleeping.." I hear a voice whisper but their plea to everyone is quickly discarded as a group of men shout and cheer, clapping each other and marching around the echoey room.

A soft sight escapes my lips as I lift my head, seeing that there's a game playing on the tv before me and I am still in the same position. I look at the clock under the tv, telling me that the time is 10:57pm. Geez, I slept for a long time. I think to myself as I rub my tiresome face.

I feel the arms around me tighten and I giggle quietly, looking up to see Paul angrily look around the room. "I said-" He starts but I quickly cover his mouth with my hand, shaking my head.

"Too late.." I dully say, bringing my hand back down. Paul gives me a soft smile, rubbing my back gently.

"Sorry.. You looked so peaceful sleeping, I didn't want them to wake you up." He fumbles over his words as he scratches the back of his head with his other hand.

I shake my head, laughing softly. "It's fine. I thought you guys were supposed to have a game night?" I ask, looking around the room and see that all eyes are on me.

Uhh...take a picture it will last longer?

"We were, then the whole thing happened with Paige and she stormed out so your father followed her.." Quil shrugs, smirking. "They've been gone for hours-"

"-doing lord knows what." Embry finishes for him, chuckling softly.

A look of disgust covers my face as I start to gag, the thought of my dad having sex with Paige making me sick to my stomach.

"Boys, leave her alone." Emily says, sitting next to Sam, her words making all the chuckling boys to quiet down.

"Okay, fine." Brody says, elbowing Collin in the arm. "Lets talk about how she's been cuddling Paul for the past three hours." Brody winks, making everyone else erupt in laughter.

I groan, the same sound coming out of Paul's mouth as I try to push myself away from him. "Okay, I think you guys can leave now." I say, finally sitting up on Paul's lap as I cross my arms.

"But the games not over!" Some of the boys complain, making me smirk and reach over for the remote before turning off the tv.

"Should've thought of that before laughing at Brody's comment." I say, placing the remote under my legs as I smile at my victory.

Paul starts to trace shapes on my hips, his hands refusing to leave my body as his head rests against the couch.

"Paul!" The three younger boys shout, making him jump and glare at them.

"What?" He annoyingly asks, sitting up before resting his chin on my shoulder.

"Get the remote and turn the tv back on!" Seth says, a chorus of 'yeahs' following behind his declaration.

I feel Paul shake his head, making me smile. "I win!" I mock, sticking my tongue out at the boys.

They all groan, making both Paul and I laugh as they get up. The group of boys mumble a "goodnight" before gathering their belonging and heading out the door.

"Have a good night Dani." Emily smiles, walking out hand in hand with Sam.

I smile back, waving goodbye as I watch them leave the house. A few moments pass, just Paul and I sitting in the same position. He probably fell asleep. I think to myself as I mindlessly rub his arms.

"Now it's just us.." I hear him mumble, making me laugh as I slap his chest.

"You should get going, mister. You seem tired." I say, patting his arms as I look at his sleepy face.

Paul smiles, shaking his head as he tightens his grip around me, his lips brushing my bare shoulder. "I don't want to leave you.." He mumbles, making my heart stutter.

I take in a deep breath, slowly getting out of his grasp and stand up. "Come on." I say, grabbing his hand to help him stand up.

He looks up at me, a smile on his face as he stands up, intertwining his fingers with mine before I lead him out to the entryway and towards the door.

"Are you really kicking me out?" He asks, grabbing his jacket and putting it on before facing me.

I nod, leaning against the wall as I look up at him. "I don't know when my dad will be home and you look like you're ready to pass out." I giggle, poking his stomach.

Paul chuckles, grabbing my hand before pulling me closer to him, his arms wrapping around my waist and mine around his neck. I enjoy the nice, warm embrace, the feeling of safety overwhelming me once again as I rest my head against his shoulder. Paul buries his face in my neck, squeezing me tighter before releasing his grip.

"Goodnight." I softly say, pulling away from the embrace and smile at him. He smiles back at me, turning around and heading towards the door.

Have you ever gotten that urge to kiss someone? Well, I'm experiencing that urge and by the looks of it, so is Paul.

"Wait." The word leave my lips before I give this a second thought, Paul slowly turning around with his eyebrows raised.

I walk over to him, looking up and into his eyes as I feel my heart pound against my chest. "Kiss me." I softly say, frozen in spot as I try to process what I said to him.

But at the same time, I'm glad I did.

Slowly, he leans down and I stay frozen in spot, trying to grasp what is about to happen. It's like I'm fighting myself to back away but I don't want to. At the end though, the latter wins and I lean in as well before both of our lips touch each other ever so lightly. We both pull away, looking into each other's eyes before closing them, our lips meeting again, molding together beautifully. Butterflies erupt in my stomach, my head spinning at the feeling of his lips against mine.

Our lips move together slowly, savoring the feeling and the taste that each of our lips have, not wanting to pull away. Instinctively, I wrap my arms around his neck, our kiss staying at the same pace, and Paul wraps his arms around my waist before gently lifting me off the ground, spinning around in a circle as slowly as he can.

My heart pounds against my chest harder, thoughts swarming my mind as I try to comprehend what is happening to me.

Slowly, Paul places me back on my feet before pulling his lips from mine. I rub my lips together, wanting to savor the feeling of his lips on mine, and I keep my eyes closed, not wanting to come back to reality - not wanting to face the wrath of Paige tomorrow or the questions swarming my mind of how I feel about him. I don't want this feeling to end and I don't know why. As if Paul could read my mind, he rests his forehead against mine, giving a gentle peck to my lips and a soft squeeze around my waist.

"I've been wanting to do that for a while." He whispers, pecking my lips one more time before letting me go and leaving the house.

By the time I opened my eyes, he was gone. I run a hand through my curly locks, leaning my back against the wall as I try to catch my breath, my heart still beating rapidly against my chest.

What is this boy doing to me?
