Percy
I stared in awe at the ship before me. It resembled the Argo ||, but more, I don't know, sci-fi. Although, considering what I'd seen, it shouldn't come as a shock.I quickly scoured the area, but no one was around.
I circled it. Where was the entrance. I sighed and leaned against a small panel.
A piece of metal descended to my left, and I drew my sword as a reflex. Huh. It was a door.
I stepped around cautiously. Still no people, so I entered. Just a quick look around. Right?*Eight hours ago*
I ran away from the giant hunk of metal, and hid behind a tree. My sword was out, and I hid the gleaming metal under my shirt.
A woman emerged, dressed in a white outfit. After her another woman with an elaborate necklace and leather costume that was yellow on the top.
Next to her lingered a man in average clothes, but I'd learned to never underestimate anyone by their appearance. He had a complexion similar to that of Apollo's.
After them followed two more men, one in a metal suit of armor, the other with pure white eyes and a leather costume. The last person was a man, dressed decently, with a trench coat that flowed when he walked.
I sensed that the woman in white was the leader- her strides were long and purposeful.
She spoke with importance.
"Alright, we need to fan out to find the book. We need it if we are to find a way to dampen the effects of the spear. What? I thought.A spear! Like... Ares's spear? It was the most powerful. Well, if they wanted it, they'd have to defeat me first.
I leaped out of my position, Riptide at ready, a menacing scowl on my face.
They assumed battle positions when they heard me. I was impressed with their reflexes. Demigods?
The woman in white stepped forward. "Kid, you shouldn't be here."
Her voice was low and husky, and her piercing blue eyes startled me.
"Don't touch Ares's spear," I growled. She lifted her eyebrows. "Huh. The Legion got kids to do their dirty work. That's pathetic."Almost as bad as Mick," I heard the necklace girl mutter. I visibly relaxed. The Legion?
The leader sprung at me, but I easily somersaulted away. Her eyes narrowed, and I waved Riptide.
A brow arched. "Kid, why you got a pen?" I blinked in surprise. She wasn't a demigod?
Slowly I approached, hands up as if I was peaceful. At the last second I swung my sword into her arm. She gave me a puzzled look.
"Oh no," I breathed. With that, I sprinted away, and heard them chasing me.
At the last second, I pulled all the water I could from the ground and threw it in a wave behind me, dousing the group, and kept running.
Finally I crossed the border, panting it was almost dinner. The group was headed back to their metal ship. I would wait until tonight to investigate.
*Eight hours later*
I boarded the ship, keeping my footsteps silent, per usual, and slipped through the hallways. It was so... mysterious.
There was technology everywhere, and I entered what appeared to be one of their rooms.
There was a toolbox, along with picture frames, on the dresser.
I studied them. It was the man with the white eyes, except he had pupils and irises. In one he boy was playing football, another was with who appeared to be his mother, and the last with his father, who was dressed in military camouflage.
I heard the whoosh, and footsteps. They'd come back sooner than anticipated.
Desperate, I crept into the closet and hid.
"Guys, it's okay, we'll find it tomorrow." I heard the woman in white say."Sara, do you think we'll see that kid again." Huh. So Sara was her name. "I don't know," she replied.
"Hope not. I don't want to kill a thirteen year old." I'm eighteen, I thought bitterly. And killing?
Dang, these crazy people. I mean sure, I've killed, but I'm not proud if it.
Also, they were trying to hurt me. I hadn't actually attacked Sara.
At least, not that she could see. I sensed the boy coming into his room, and going to sleep. I also felt the engine activate, and the ship rising. No, no, no.
This sounds pretty un-Percy like, but right then, I passed out. Probably from being in this tiny closet.
The next morning I woke to a yell. I shot up, startled. The boy was backed away, calling for his team.
I did the only thing I could think of, and grabbed a hammer, whipped the boy around, and held it above his skull.
The necklace woman arrived first, followed by Apollo-face. She had changed, but still wore the necklace, I noticed.
The rest of the team appeared, along with an old man I hadn't seen before. Had he been on the ship the whole time?
I felt the boy exhale, trying to loosen my grip, so I squeezed my arm tighter.
The old man came closer, and I braced my arm, ready to strike. He saw that, and moved away.
"Hey, kid, cool it," Sara said.
"Not a chance."
"Look, whaddya want? Money? Jewelry? We got a nice necklace right here." Necklace girl glared at her, and she muttered. "Okay, maybe not that one.""Who are you?" My voice came out higher than expected, and I saw Apollo-face smirk. I growled at him.
"Where am I?" "The Waverider."
I paused, trying to sense any water. "I thought Poseidon controlled the waves.""Look, we're not trying to hurt anyone."
"You would've killed me!" I protested. "That's because we thought you were part of an enemy of ours, the Legion of Doom."
"Legion of Doom?" I snorted. "Sounds like something from Tartarus." I got a few eyebrows, and backtracked.
"Uh, that was my rival sports team in high school."
"You were in high school?"
"I'm eighteen!"
"Shouldn't you still be there?"
"I'm an... early graduate." "Oh." None of them believed me, but they didn't need to. I just needed to bust out of here.
All of a sudden the ship lurched, and I smacked my head on the wall.
"Gideon!" Sara yelled. "What's going on?"
"The jump ship was severely damaged. There is an electrical error, and we can only preserve enough energy for one last jump."
"What kind of error?"
"Water has infiltrated our mainframe." My eyes widened. Poseidon.
"Gideon! Go to Central City, 2017!" Central City? We couldn't go all the way to Colorado!
With a jolt, I felt the ship settle on concrete, and sprinted out while everyone else was dazed.
Outside stood a large building, with Star Labs imprinted on a sign. Should I go in? Hey, why not?
